You’re Supposed To Be The Villain, But You Effortlessly Win Over The Female Leads?

Chapter 28:

Chapter 28:

Jiang Jiandang’s expression darkened for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. He had anticipated this moment, knowing that Jiang Feng and Song Lin would target him about this issue from the start. So, before appearing on the show, he had prepared himself.

“Xiao Feng, I never imagined… you’d misunderstand your father so much,” Jiang Jiandang said with a bitter smile, his eyes reddening as he looked at Jiang Feng. “I always thought we were family, united in heart. In the past, your mother’s family was struggling, and I took care of them. When your mother and I weren’t even married, your grandfather got sick, and without a second thought, I covered all the medical expenses.”

He paused for a moment, as if recalling a painful memory. “Your grandfather took my hand and told me not to waste any more money, saying he knew he didn’t have much time left. But he also entrusted your mother to me.” Jiang Jiandang’s voice choked up, and a few tears welled up in his eyes. His acting was convincing—so much so that Jiang Feng almost felt moved. It was a pity that Jiang Jiandang wasn’t an actor, Jiang Feng thought. Such talent wasted.

“For years, I always believed our family was united. I never cared about where my money went. In my mind, what’s mine was always your mother’s too.”

Jiang Jiandang’s words, accompanied by his tearful demeanor, swayed the audience. Their initial doubts, stirred by Jiang Feng’s earlier statements, began to fade. They started to think that maybe there had been a misunderstanding after all. The audience, who moments earlier were leaning toward Jiang Feng, now began to align with Jiang Jiandang.

Even the host, with teary eyes, spoke up. “Mr. Jiang, you don’t need to explain yourself any further. I believe everyone here can see the truth. Your actions speak for themselves—you’re a good man. This must all be a misunderstanding.”

Jiang Jiandang sighed and nodded sadly. “I know Xiao Feng and his mother have deeply misunderstood me.” He turned to Song Lin with a soft, affectionate gaze. “Wife, can you forgive me? I realize I may have neglected you in the past, but from now on, I’ll take better care of you. We’re still a family.”

The host immediately directed her attention to Song Lin. “Ms. Song, you heard what Mr. Jiang said. Do you still have any dissatisfaction? Back then, when your father was ill, Mr. Jiang covered all the medical expenses without hesitation. We should be grateful and acknowledge his kindness.”

The audience below joined in, shouting in unison, “Reconcile! Reconcile! Reconcile!”

The overwhelming pressure from the crowd made Song Lin turn pale. She opened her mouth to speak but found herself unable to say a word. She wanted to refuse, but the weight of everyone’s expectations made it feel like if she didn’t agree, she would be condemned as the villain.

But how could she return to her old life?

Since Jiang Feng had taken her away from Jiang Jiandang, she no longer had to care for the overgrown child that was her husband. All she had to do was focus on Jiang Feng, and her life had become so much easier. Her son even provided for her, and life was better than it had ever been before. The thought of going back to the way things were made Song Lin shudder.

“What’s the matter, Ms. Song? Is there something you’re not happy about?” The host, Li Xin, pressed on, raising an eyebrow. “As women, we must hold onto the bonds of the past. Mr. Jiang has made such an effort, and you don’t want to leave him out in the cold, do you? It’s rare to find a man as devoted as Mr. Jiang, given your circumstances. If you let him go now, you won’t find another like him.”

Her words, though thinly veiled, were clear in their meaning: Song Lin was old, and she should settle for what she had. The tone of contempt wasn’t lost on Jiang Feng.

He was livid. “What do you mean by ‘no other like him’? Jiang Jiandang is nothing but a crooked tree, a worthless man! And you’re trying to insult my mother like this? I’ll sue you for defamation!”

Jiang Feng’s voice was sharp and serious as he turned to glare at Jiang Jiandang. “I’ve collected all the bank statements from the past 20 years, showing my mother’s expenses and how you’ve barely contributed to the household. I’ve accounted for everything.”

His gaze turned icy, the chill in his tone making Jiang Jiandang feel a growing unease. Even the host looked startled.

“Can I project images from my phone?” Jiang Feng asked coolly, pausing to glance at the director in the distance. “Or is this whole show rigged in favor of Jiang Jiandang? Are you all just trying to help him reconcile? Because if that’s the case, I won’t waste my time here.”

The director’s face turned pale. “Of course, you can project.”

They couldn’t refuse—what kind of show would it be if they did?

Soon, a presentation from Jiang Feng’s phone appeared on the big screen, displaying detailed financial records. The data flashed in front of the audience’s eyes, and a collective gasp filled the room.

The information was shocking.
