Days of my Life

Chapter 37: TEARS OF THE HEARTLESS

"I've had enough of this!" Tomura said as he was about to put his palms together, he was about to activate another of his technique. "Domain Expans....."

Ayaka quickly cuts his arm off. Tomura held his arm as blood rushed out of it, with eyes wide open as if they were going to pop out of their sockets any second from now, he screamed. His cries echo throughout the subway station and maybe it could be heard outside too. Kanade punched him, sending him crashing to the wall and he lost consciousness.

Kanade and Ayaka walked to him, still on alert.

"Looks like he's unconscious" Ayaka announced joyfully. "We just defeated a demon!"

Ayaka quickly ran to the demon.

"A demon can't lose consciousness, unless it's a t..." Kanade yelled. "Ayaka stop!!!"

Suddenly the demon unconscious body exploded. Kanade was quick enough to block Ayaka, even though the wall was destroyed and the force had pushed her and Ayaka crashing into the other side.

"Ayaka, where are you?" Kanade yelled as she forced herself out of the crumbles.

"Ugh....." Ayaka said, her tone shows how disappointed she was. "Turns out this is also a clone too"

"Are you okay!?" Kanade asked in shock.

"Yes, sensei" Ayaka brighten up. "Just a little scratch here and there, but don't worry, it will heal up"

Kanade signed. She brought out her phone and looked at it, it had cracks all over the screen but it was still enough to see some things at least. How does Yaze use his phone during a fight and it never ends up broken.

The time was 11:26, she had wasted more than an hour fighting a clone, and if not for Ayaka she would have been dead by now. But, Ayaka is more powerful than she looks, she might not look like it but she is the host of the demon cat, which basically makes her a goddess.

She was worshipped by the Kamisato clan and have several shrine around Japan, China and South Korea. The more she is worshipped, the more stronger she becomes, even though her worshippers had reduced by roughly seventy percent, she is still as strong as ever. You can't really expect any less from the demon cat.

"Let's head back" Kanade ordered. "We'll report to Miss Natski and Yaze will clear up this place before morning"

"Okay, sensei" Ayaka said and walked towards Kanade as they both walked up the stairs, disappointed. Ayaka was disappointed because she couldn't get the bounty while Kanade was cause she won't be able to buy an expensive wine she saw at a bar.

"I'm useless, I can't help my student" Kanade thought again. "I haven't done much since when I became Yaze teammate except being a mother to them, I couldn't even beat Thomas"

Kanade stared at her palm as she opened and closed it continuously, she couldn't even defeat Thomas neither can she keep up with Yaze. "Have they both gotten a lot stronger than me, or I'm I the one that have gotten too weak"

_AYAKA P.O.V._

I walked back to the academy with Kanade-sensei who told me to go to my room while she report to Miss Tokoyami.

"Good night, sensei" I yelled and waved at her as she walked away.

As I walked into my room, I noticed it was dark. That was unlike Kakashi, he never agrees to turn off the lights at night.

Well, there is always a first time for everything, I thought. I jumped up to the upper bunk after kissing Kakashi good night, which I immediately thought I shouldn't have, but he was asleep so I doubt he'll notice it.

***

Even though it was 2 am in the middle of the night, I could still see the wall clock clearly thanks to the moonlight that found it's way into the room through the window. The moonlight shined directly to Kakashi bed and I only could receive very little of it, since I couldn't see I decided to sleep with Kakashi on his bed.

The thought of me sleeping on the same bed with Kakashi made me blush, but it's not like I'm doing anything wrong, or am I?. I guessed it alright as long as I wake up before him.

I sat upright and looked under the bed but Kakashi was not there, the bathroom lights were on, so I assume that he's at the bath. He came out about two minutes later, wiping his face with a towel and threw the towel on his bed and lied down on it.

I lied down on my bed, pretending to be asleep, when I heard his voice. He was crying!.

"Why?" Kakashi whispered to himself, he was trying his best to hold it in, but it was too much for him. "I can't protect anyone, I couldn't protect my mom, I couldn't protect Tokah, I couldn't even protect my friends at the lab. I'm a failure"

Kakashi cried silently. I couldn't take it, I pitied him. He had suffered, he had seen what a kid shouldn't have saw, he lost his mother, abandoned his sister and have no idea how his friends died, but he was still able to smile and act like nothing ever happened. I wish I was as strong as him.

"I can't protect them" he continued. "I can't be a hero, I can't be anyone hero. I wanted to become stronger so I can protect my family but in the end I was weak..."

"You are not weak" I said as I hugged him tightly, pulling him towards myself. "You are not weak, you're not a failure"

I don't really know what I way doing, but I couldn't leave him like that. I didn't realize it until I held him and pressed him to my chest, I don't want him to cry.

"Bu... But i... I let all those people die" Kakashi said, his face was covered with tears which he rubbed all over my night grown as he cried and pushed himself closer to me. "I can't be a hero if I let people die because of me"

"Then you can be my hero" I whispered. "You can protect me always, no matter where I am, you can be my hero"

"I can be your hero" Kakashi said.

"Yes, even though you can't save the whole world. If you manage to save me when I'm in need, doesn't that still makes you an hero?" I advised. "So please, don't talk down on yourself. Don't talk down on my hero"

Kakashi looked up at me and I gave him a friendly smile. Kakashi eyes widened, it like he saw something in me that he didn't see the first time we met.

"Mom?"
