(Third Person POV)
"I just received word from the Magic Council." Makarov said, "They have engaged in combat with portions of the Alvarez armies in the northern and eastern border."
They were in the main briefing room on the Nemesis. Felicity was about to depart and move the ship to a more appropriate location in the air. It was around an hour or so after Jason had spoken to them about Erion.
Erza looked at Mavis who was sitting on a chair at the front of the room, "Master Mavis." She said, "Shall we go and give help to the ones fighting? I received word from other guilds, they have been asked for help as well."
Mavis nodded, "Yes." She said, "I've decided on who shall go."
They all looked at her, awaiting instructions. Mavis and Makarov had arranged what the next move should be. Whatever it is that Jason had planned, he'll let them know and they can order their members as they see fit. Jason, however, is going to do as he feels is the proper manner. He had shaped the majority of Fiore to properly defend itself without any need for resistance.
He had several outposts that would automatically fight back against the enemy. He had every civilian evacuated and protected on secretly located bunkers so he was sure that there would be no casualties.
Mavis was worried about what Jason was going to do. She noticed he had placed himself in a difficult position and didn't want him to have a burden.
Mavis sighed and looked at them, "Makarov and a few others will stay in the guild hall, keeping communications up with me and the rest." She said, "I'll split everyone else into groups. Gajeel, Levy, and Lily. You are to join the troops on the northern border."
Gajeel and Levy both nodded as Lily had his arms crossed, in his exceed form.
"Erza, Gray, and Laxus." Mavis continued, "You are to make your way towards Hargeon. There is word of it being overrun by the armies there. The Magic Council has sent troops and Crime Sorciere is also making their way there; Two Shields of Spriggan reside there."
Erza nodded, "Roger."
Gray looked at Laxus, "It's odd." He said, "You and I aren't normally on teams."
"Tell me about it." Laxus said, "I take it the Thunder God Tribe is staying with you, old man."
Makarov nodded, "Yes." He said, "I'll have use of Fried's runes."
Mavis then looked at Juvia and Cana, "You two and a few others are to stay with me on this ship." She said, "I may need a bit of extra protection and well, Felicity says you could use some of the ship's weapons."
Juvia nodded, "Yes!" She said, "Juvia will protect you, First!"
Natsu then walked up to her, "Hey! What about me?!" He exclaimed as he punched the air, "I want to punch something!"
"Well." She said, "I-"
"If I may say something." Felicity's voice was heard through the speakers
They all looked around, trying to find where to look. They weren't used to Felicity's presence, she was but a Warmind A.I. and could speak to them from anywhere.
"Y-Yes.." Mavis said
"Master Jason has engaged the armies on the Western Fronts." Felicity said, "He had ordered me not to interfere but said nothing about informing you of that."
Makarov widened his eyes, "Already?!"
"Y-Yes!" They all turned to see Warren on a screen, "Look!"
On the screen, they saw a map that was zoomed in on the western front, where the chokepoints were. They saw several thick blocks that represented the Alvarez armies that had been stalled by the fortified defenses. They also saw a singular glowing dot that was on top of the chokepoints; this one seemingly represented Jason.
Mavis looked at the screen, "Why would he do that?!" She exclaimed
"Oi!" Natsu said, "I'll go and help him out! Let's go Happy!!"
"Aye Sir!!" Happy said
Mavis turned to see Natsu running towards a window that was conveniently opened and jumped off as Happy flew out and caught him.
Lucy ran behind him, "Natsu!!" She exclaimed
"Natsu-san!" Wendy also yelled
"That fool!!" Makarov said
Gray sighed, "This isn't good...." He said
Laxus shrugged, "Well, I don't think he needs the help..." He said, "But I guess if Natsu's going, he should be fine."
Mavis looked at Lucy, "Lucy, Wendy." She said, "Go with him. Don't let him do something reckless."
Lucy looked at her, "Y-Yes, but..." She said
"Worry not." Felicity said, "I can provide transportation for you two....or three...."
She was referring to Carla who was standing next to Wendy.
"What about...." Lucy said
"I shall look after the child." Felicity said
Mavis nodded, "You heard her." She said before turning to the rest, "That is all. We will keep communications up, please have a safe journey towards your assigned posts."
They all nodded.
"Yes!"
****************************************************************
On the Western Front, the Armies that was escorting Zeref were engaged with the defenses Jason had set up.
They were being hit with dozens upon dozens of artillery fire that were causing several explosions that shook the ground beneath them. The thousands of soldiers were firing back at the artillery with magic attacks of their own, but it rarely did anything.
With every round of Artillery that was being fired by the top of the hills, dozens of soldiers were being sent flying as their bodies were obliterated by the immense firepower. And there were nearly a hundred artillery cannons that were being fired per round.
It was so bad that the front of the advance was covered in flames and smoke, so much so that it was beginning to fill the sky above them.
The majority of the army had scattered by this point, trying to charge through the hills and attempt to flank the chokepoint. It was a futile attempt, however, as the hills were littered with mines, causing powerful magical explosions that further stalled any sort of attempt to breach.
This was happening at several chokepoints in the advance, not just this one. This one happened to be where the brunt of the 300,000 strong army had decided to march through.
Atop of the hill, sitting on a plastic lawn chair, Jason looked down at the spectacle. He had sunglasses on as he threw popcorn into his mouth with a smirk on his face.
"Heh." He said, "I'm really happy with how this turned out....."
He was watching as massive explosions shook the ground almost every 10 seconds, hearing the screams of struggling soldiers down below, smelling the scent of flames and smoke.
"I'm not even spending magic power on this..." He said, "This is something else. What a right investment, doing these modifications to the land."
He then looked to his left, seeing smoke in the far distance. He had deduced that the other chokepoints were also doing their job.
"Hm..." He said, "If they break through over there, it wouldn't matter by this point. As long as I can thin down the army here, it should be fine. Unless they decide to retreat and pour through the crack they could make over there...Oh no, that could be bad...."
He then pulled up a large plastic cup that had a straw on it and took a sip of whatever he had on it.
"Man..." He said as he ate some popcorn, "I guess if it takes too long, I should do a bombing run...."
He then lowered his sunglasses down and saw that there was a massive portion of the advance that was beginning to burn a bit more. From the top of the massive hills of the chokepoint, it looked like a massive long black carpet and the front of it was burning slightly.
"Hm....." He said, "Maybe I should speed things up after all...."
He then stood up and walked towards the edge, stretching his arms as he looked down the hills, seeing the massive artillery cannons he had deployed there. He then looked to his sides, seeing the massive missile launchers were were continuously firing missiles, magically reloading themselves.
If you're asking yourselves how Jason isn't spending magic power with this, then don't ask yourselves anymore; over the past few months, aside from building bunkers and vaults for the civilans' protection, Jason had developed and supercharged several massive magical lacrima that he had placed in the core of these types of defenses that he had placed all over the country. As long as they're intact, the artillery can shoot indefinitely.
Jason then cracked his knuckles as he looked down at the army.
He then raised his hand as he let out a massive aura.
From down below, the thousands of soldiers who were struggling felt this power and looked up. They felt an immense and ominous magic power that froze them, despite the constant bombardment that they were receiving.
Jason smirked as he looked down.
