I Joined the Sentai Heroes Who Were Beautiful Girls Other Than Me but the Heroines Were All Yanderangers

chapter 42

42. Fiance Yellow’s Mission Log 2

I go to the toilet in the nearby park before returning to Shiundo. I wipe the mud off my body, and take a T-shirt dress out of the backpack I had hidden in the toilet cleaning locker. I think I’ll get a new mission request soon, but it’s against the rules to return in my hero suit because we can’t let people know that Shiundo is a hero base.

My suit is shaped so that I can hide it by a dress on over it, but putting today it’s covered in mud, so I’ll change properly before I go back. The doctor scolded me the other day because he said that if I walk looking around suspicious, people will give me strange looks.

“Ouch, my butt is scratched too.”

When I take off my hero suit, which is soaked with rain and clinging tightly to my body, I see that the part of my shorts covering my butt is scratched. The pain disappeared right away, but the tear in the suit didn’t heal , so I’ll have to ask the doctor to fix it later.

“If pain isn’t love, then it’s just painful and unpleasant.”

I thought as I looked at the damaged shorts.

“If you can heal injuries anyway, why not make it so that I don’t feel pain in the first place?”

My big brother said that he hated seeing me get hurt or injured, and if I didn’t feel pain, it would put his mind at ease.

If I didn’t feel pain, I could keep moving as usual even if I got injured during a mission, and I could just heal all my injuries later when I had time. That would let me focus all my energy on helping people, and I might be able to do even more than I do now. I’ve seen painkillers for sale at the pharmacy, so there must be a way to make it so that I don’t feel pain when I get hurt. I’ll ask the doctor to make something for me.

“Heh heh, that might be a good idea. My big brother would be happy.”

I guess this is what it means to “think about what the other person wants.” I always make mistakes, and I’m nothing without my big brother, but if I keep thinking about what I can do for him, little by little, he’ll love me even more.

I let my lightened footsteps guide me as I made my way through the puddle-filled streets and returned to Shiundo, my home. It was often late at night when I returned from a mission, and I had been stopped by a police officer once before before , so I carefully checked my surroundings before taking out my key and entering the store.

“I’m home.”

The pitch-black Shiundo, where no one was present, was filled with the musty smell of old books. If it were a real bookstore, the rainy season would probably be a busy time, but this store was just a cover for us to come and go as we pleased, so the books here were left to mold undisturbed. According to the doctor, books have no expiration date, are cheap and easy to obtain in large quantities, and are not suspicious for customers of all ages, which is why he chose a bookstore.

“Why, I wish I had time for a nap.”

I carefully made my way behind the counter and entered the staff room to open the passage to the base. As I unlocked it and opened the floor, the cell phone in my bag vibrated.

“Too bad. It’s from the doctor.”

My cell phone, which I was given so that I could receive mission requests no matter where I was, usually only received calls from the doctor, but recently my big brother had also been contacting me. Even though I knew that more than ninety percent of the calls were business calls from the doctor, just waiting for a call from my big brother and looking at my cell phone made me happy, so it was a welcome change.

I tapped the screen to open the app, and as usual, a map of the mission location and a clear description of the accident were displayed. The only thing that was different from usual was that the notes said, “This time, you will be working with Green. Stop by the monitor room before departing.”

“…Tokiwa Uguisu?”

Tokiwa Uguisu, Philance Green. I don’t understand that person, so I’m scared.

We heroes almost never get the chance to go out on missions with someone else, and we always act alone. I hear all the important information from the doctor, and even if we pass each other on the base, we don’t chat. This isn’t just me; I’m sure it’s the same for the other heroes.

The doctor must know this better than anyone, so the fact that he’s making me and Tokiwa Uguisu work together must mean that it’s a very urgent situation. I was a little tired, but if it’s a big accident scene, I’ll be able to help even more people, so I’ll do my best.

“Doctor, are you there?”

I made my way through the spreading base, where I could easily get lost if I let my guard down even after living here for a year, and arrived at the monitor room I was looking for. I raised my index finger to press the call button when I heard a voice behind me.

“Kutsuha-san.”

“Ah!”

Tokiwa Uguisu was standing right behind me in a tracksuit. I didn’t know when she had got there.

Tokiwa Uguisu looked at me, still soaked to the bone, and said,

“Did you just get back?”

Her eyes were bloodshot, and her face was red, as if she had been crying until just now.

“Yeah.”

To me, everyone other than my big brother is equally unimportant. If I had to pick one person, I would say that I feel gratitude and trust toward Dr. Gentian, who introduced me to my big brother, but all the other heroes are nothing more than strangers to me.

So, even though Tokiwa Uguisu’s face looked like she had been crying until just now, it didn’t really matter to me on a normal day, but today we were going to be working together.

“Were you crying?”

I don’t have any interest in the private lives of other heroes, but today, she’s my partner, so I felt like I should at least listen to her story.

And my whim seemed to have taken an unexpected turn.

“Yes, I had a little fight with my husband… Sora-san.”

She suddenly mentioned my big brother’s name and the word before it. I turned my back to the monitor room door and looked at Tokiwa Uguisu’s expression carefully. Her eyes were bloodshot, her face was red all the way to her ears, she had hastily wiped away the water droplets, leaving smudges on her glasses, and the sleeves of her tracksuit were damp.

There was no reason for her to act in front of me. It seemed like her story about fighting with my big brother and crying was true. In that case, was the other thing she said true as well?

“You said ‘husband’?”

I asked her again about the most important part.

“Yes.”

She didn’t hesitate or show any signs of being flustered, and she answered immediately. She didn’t seem to be lying at all.

“I’m Sora-san’s wife.”

“…Really?”

I didn’t know. That my brother was married to Tokiwa Uguisu. But they’re both old enough to get married, so it’s not an impossible story, right?

“Yes. We haven’t registered our marriage yet, but we love each other.”

Love. To love each other.

I see, my brother’s love was directed at Tokiwa Uguisu.
