I’m the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1280: Team Radiance

After the sparring session between Mewtwo and Cosmoem, Yuga called to order the equipment Mewtwo needed for its experiments and purchased the specific materials it had requested online. Seeing how dedicated Mewtwo was to its research, Yuga was overjoyed and more than willing to spend money to support its work.

Meanwhile, Shuuya, riding the Great Flygon, successfully arrived at the Pokémon Tower. Under the guidance of the resident monks, he managed to bury the Beautifly there. Following Yuga's instructions, Shuuya paid the monks to recite prayers and perform blessings for the Beautifly before departing.

However, since it was already late, Shuuya decided not to rush back to Verdanturf Town and instead stayed overnight in the nearby White Cloud Town.

That night, while sleeping lightly at the inn, Shuuya was startled awake by a noise outside. He quickly got up, tiptoed to the window, and tightly gripped the Poké Ball containing the Great Flygon.

This was Shuuya's first time traveling far from home, and he had been on edge the entire trip, which explained his restless sleep. White Cloud Town was a very small and quiet place, a stark contrast to the bustling Verdanturf Town. Its residents led simple lives, and once night fell, the entire town became eerily silent.

Shuuya was staying at the only inn in town, and his room was on the third floor, with a balcony just outside the window. The bright moonlight illuminated the balcony clearly. Peering out through the window, Shuuya could see the silhouette of a person lying on the balcony. Judging by the labored breathing coming from the figure, Shuuya deduced they were injured.

Fearing the person might be a criminal, Shuuya held his breath. However, the figure soon noticed his presence.

"Help… Help me…" the person whispered weakly. Only then did Shuuya realize it was a woman.

Still cautious, Shuuya didn't act immediately but continued observing the woman under the moonlight. She had long hair, but due to the darkness, he couldn't discern its color. Based on her voice, she seemed to be in her twenties.

Sensing his hesitation, the woman added, "I'm a League Trainer, not a bad person. Please, help me."

Hearing this, Shuuya hesitated further. He couldn't confirm if she was truly a League Trainer, but what if she was telling the truth? Her injuries did seem severe.

After much deliberation, Shuuya's innate kindness prevailed, and he decided to help. He opened the balcony door and cautiously approached to help her up.

The injured woman sighed in relief when Shuuya finally came to her aid. After bringing her inside, Shuuya reached for the light switch, but the woman quickly stopped him.

"Don't turn on the light," she warned. "There are people outside looking for me. If they find me, you'll be in danger too."

Hearing this, Shuuya froze, not daring to make any sudden moves.

Now that they were closer, with the moonlight streaming in through the window, Shuuya could finally make out her face. She was indeed a young woman, and very beautiful at that. However, Shuuya was only ten years old. No matter how attractive she was, he wouldn't entertain any improper thoughts.

If Yuga had been there, he would have immediately recognized the young woman as Kerry, the granddaughter of Bridges. It was she who had delivered the egg that hatched Cosmoem to Yuga.

Due to her grandfather Bridges' incident, Kerry's status within the League had taken a significant hit. She even faced ostracization from her colleagues, often being assigned the most dangerous missions. This time was no exception.

Since Team Aqua was absorbed into Team Rocket and most of their forces withdrew from the Hoenn region, a significant power vacuum emerged in Hoenn's underground dark forces.

During the scramble among the legendary Pokémon for the giant rock fragment, Team Magma suffered heavy losses when retreating, as they were attacked by Manaphy. With severe injuries, Maxie had no choice but to lead the remnants of his forces to seek refuge with Team Plasma, leaving Hoenn altogether.

With Team Aqua and Team Magma, the two largest dark organizations in Hoenn, gone, the region's underground forces fell into chaos. Small factions fought fiercely over the redistribution of territories, leading to prolonged skirmishes.

Recently, the League discovered the emergence of a new organization called Team Radiance. Not only did Team Radiance rapidly annex numerous small factions in Hoenn, growing increasingly powerful, but they also seemed to be secretly stirring up trouble behind the scenes. As a result, the League decided to send someone to investigate.

Kerry was the undercover agent assigned to infiltrate and investigate Team Radiance.

Through preliminary investigation, the League identified a small external squad from Team Radiance and helped Kerry infiltrate it, hoping she could use this squad to locate Team Radiance's headquarters and uncover the identity of their leader.

Kerry had been undercover in the squad for nearly six months. However, during that time, the squad never returned to headquarters, nor was she able to gather any information about their leader.

Two days ago, during a mission with the squad, Kerry accidentally exposed a flaw, which the squad captain noticed. The captain kept silent at first, biding his time until today, when he decided to seize the opportunity to eliminate her.

Fortunately, Kerry was skilled enough to escape with her life, but the members of Team Radiance's squad were relentless, pursuing her under the cover of night.

Kerry had initially planned to call for help from her colleagues, but her secret communication device had already been sabotaged by the squad captain.

With all her Pokémon gravely injured, she had no choice but to seek help from Shuuya, despite him being just an ordinary civilian.

Seeing the pain on Kerry's face, Shuuya lowered his voice and asked, "Are you okay?"

Before he could finish, he felt his hands, which were supporting Kerry, growing wet with something. A thick, metallic scent of blood quickly spread through the room.

Kerry, seemingly realizing something, suddenly urged Shuuya to help her to the bathroom.

The overpowering smell of blood could easily attract attention. Kerry could only think of soaking herself in the bathtub to use the water to mask the scent of blood.

But it was already too late. Just as the two prepared to move to the bathroom, there was another noise on the balcony.

Shuuya quickly pushed Kerry into the bathroom and ran to the balcony to check. As he peered outside, his eyes met a pair of pitch-black eyes staring back at him.

"Hey there, kid!" The owner of the eyes grinned at Shuuya as he spoke.

The voice was raspy, like that of a ghost straight out of hell. Terrified, Shuuya staggered back two steps.

"It seems you have an uninvited guest here. Why not hand her over?"

As the man finished speaking, a Houndoom leaped in through the window, baring its fangs and growling at Shuuya, as though ready to tear him apart at any moment. Shuuya's legs began to tremble uncontrollably in fear.

"Sith!"

At that moment, Kerry, despite her severe injuries, rushed out of the bathroom and stood in front of Shuuya, gritting her teeth as she called out. Since her cover had been blown, she couldn't let Shuuya face the enemy alone.

She regretted seeking Shuuya's help. Not only had she been discovered, but now an innocent boy was caught in the middle.

"Tina~" Sith drawled, elongating the name. He was the leader of Team Radiance's squad, and "Tina" was the alias Kerry used during her infiltration.

"Let the kid go, and I'll go with you," Kerry said as she pulled Shuuya further behind her.

"None of you are leaving today," Sith said cruelly, his pitch-black eyes glinting as if they could emit light.

Suddenly, Shuuya took out a Poké Ball and released a Flygon.

"Flygon!" Shuuya shouted.

The massive Pokémon filled most of the room the moment it appeared. Its tail lashed out at Sith and his Houndoom. Caught off guard by the sudden attack, both Sith and Houndoom were struck and sent flying.

Crash! Boom!

The sound of shattering glass echoed as half the balcony wall collapsed. Sith and Houndoom tumbled downward, their angry roars fading as they fell.

Inside the room, Shuuya quickly climbed onto Flygon's back, pulling Kerry up with him.

"Flygon, go!"

With a powerful push from its legs, the Flygon leaped through the broken balcony, flapped its wings, and soared into the sky, carrying Shuuya and Kerry away.

Shuuya glanced back at the inn, where half of a wall had collapsed. Silently, he apologized in his heart, thinking he'd come back to compensate for the damage after they escaped the crisis.

Of course, Kerry would have to cover the costs. He was just collateral damage in this mess, and paying wasn't an option for him.

Fortunately, the damage was limited to the room's wall, leaving the rest of the inn intact. Otherwise, Kerry would owe a fortune.

Reflecting on what had just happened, Shuuya's heart was still pounding wildly. He couldn't believe he had pulled off such a daring act.

Kerry's thoughts were even more complex. She hadn't expected this boy to go to such lengths to help her.

And then there was the Flygon they were riding—it seemed absurdly strong. Were all young Trainers this formidable these days?

As Shuuya and Kerry fled, members of Team Radiance, led by Sith, gave chase while riding on Fearow.

Sith's face was livid with anger. He hadn't expected to suffer such a major setback and was seething with rage, wishing he could tear Shuuya apart.

"Fearow~"

The grating cries of the Fearow echoed from behind. Shuuya turned his head and felt his blood run cold.

"Flygon, hurry… hurry up! They're catching… catching up!" Shuuya stammered.

Flygon, being an Elite level Pokémon, could have easily annihilated the pursuers if it weren't for the burden of carrying Shuuya and Kerry.

Their pursuers numbered more than a dozen. If Flygon fought at full strength, it couldn't ensure the safety of the two passengers on its back, both of whom were essentially defenseless.

Flygon's speed outmatched that of the Fearow, and it gradually pulled away from the pursuers.

Seeing the gap widen, Sith ordered the Dodrio to use the move Uproar to attack Flygon. The already unpleasant cries of the Fearow became even more unbearable as they unleashed their move, creating a chaotic noise that began to affect Flygon. Its speed gradually slowed.

White Cloud Town was not far from Meteor Falls, where the League had secretly established a training camp. The father of Yuga's Shelgon (a Level 100 Salamence) resided there too.

That evening, Salamence wasn't staying in Meteor Falls. The camp personnel didn't interfere with its movements, so it had found a spot by a nearby lake to sleep.

However, it was suddenly awakened by a commotion in the distance, the noise pulling it from its slumber.

Salamence wasn't known for its good temper. Flapping its wings, it prepared to track down whoever had disturbed its sleep and settle the score.

From far away, Salamence spotted the Great Flygon carrying two individuals on its back, flying toward it.

Well, isn't that the Flygon from that kid's place? Salamence thought in surprise. It often visited Verdanturf Town to check on its son, so it was no stranger to the air patrol squad's captain.

"Flygon~"

Flygon also spotted Salamence from afar and immediately called out to it. On its back, Shuuya and Kerry were bewildered.

Did they just run into someone (or something) familiar? How could their luck be this uncanny?

Then, they watched in shock as Salamence flew toward them and unleashed a stream of Flamethrower, prompting both of them to close their eyes in fear.

Fortunately, the pillar of fire didn't touch them. Instead, they heard a chorus of agonized screams behind them. Several of their pursuers, along with their Fearow mounts, were instantly incinerated into ash. If not for Sith's superior reflexes and strength, allowing him to dodge in time, he too would have met the same fate as his subordinates.

It's terrifying!

Kerry's eyes widened in disbelief.

Shuuya was less affected. Not being a Trainer, he lacked a clear understanding of Pokémon power levels. While he recognized Salamence's immense strength, he didn't grasp just how overwhelming it truly was.

Kerry, on the other hand, felt completely different. The ability to annihilate both people and Pokémon with a single move? Not even her grandfather, when he was alive, was capable of such a feat.

Meanwhile, Flygon felt reinvigorated. It had been thoroughly vexed by its pursuers, but now Salamence had vented its frustration for it. How could it not be overjoyed?

On the other side, Salamence's sudden arrival caused Sith's expression to turn ashen. Watching the remainder of his subordinates turn to ash under Salamence's Flamethrower, Sith quickly realized he was hopelessly outmatched. He turned around and attempted to flee.

However, Salamence wasn't about to let him escape so easily. A fiery column immediately blocked his path.

Its son worked under Yuga in Verdanturf Town. Now Yuga's air patrol captain was being bullied? It was Salamence's duty to stand up for them and set things right.

In no time, the rest of Sith's subordinates were reduced to ash by Salamence's relentless attacks. Shuuya, having never witnessed such carnage, stared in wide-eyed shock.

Savage. This was far too savage!

Just as Salamence was preparing to incinerate Sith as well, Kerry stepped in to stop it. At least one person needed to be kept alive for interrogation.

Salamence, considering that it was technically a League-affiliated Pokémon, heeded Kerry's request. Instead of killing Sith, it merely knocked him unconscious.

Sith had been brimming with confidence about hunting down Kerry. His twisted mind had wanted to toy with her, like a cat playing with a mouse. Yet in the end, he had forfeited not only his entire squad but also their lives.

Unfortunately, there was no medicine for regret.

With Team Radiance dealt with, Salamence carried Shuuya, Kerry, and Flygon to the training camp.
