Chapter 15: Chapter 15 take care of yourself for me
As Aria tried to coax Max into leaving with her, he stubbornly refused. "Sis, I'm not going anywhere. I'm leaving with Brother," Max said, his expression unyielding.
Aria tried to reason with him, but Max started walking back to the car. "Max, stop! Stop being stubborn. Mom will complain that we're late," Aria urged, hurrying after him.
Just as she grabbed Max's hand, he let out a loud scream and fell to the ground. Aria panicked, worried that she had hurt him. "What's wrong, Max? What's hurting you?" she asked frantically.
Ace intervened, lifting Max into his arms. "Open the car door, hurry. We need to take him to the hospital," he said, his expression worried.
Aria quickly opened the door, and Ace gently laid Max down on the back seat. As they drove, Aria kept glancing back at Max, worried about his condition.
But after ten minutes, Max suddenly sat up, a mischievous grin on his face. "Sister, this is my ghost," he said, chuckling.
Aria's relief turned to annoyance. "Eh, God, Max! Are you alright?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Max looked down at his hands, sheepishly admitting, "Yes, sis. It was all an act."
Aria's eyes narrowed. "Why?" she asked, but before Max could respond, Ace interrupted.
"You should forget about it. Maybe he just felt like acting. The place really feels like a studio. I myself feel like acting," Ace said, his eyes glinting with amusement.
Aria's face flushed as Ace continued, "To lift you in my arms in a bridal style and take you to my room like newlyweds do...".
Aria's eyes widened in shock, and she quickly interrupted him. "Shut up!" she exclaimed, her face burning with embarrassment.
Ace smirked, enjoying her reaction. "What happened? You're red," he teased.
Aria's blush deepened, and she turned away, mortified.
The rest of the drive was silent, with Max munching on his cake in the backseat. Finally, Ace broke the silence. "Are you going to school tomorrow?" he asked Aria.
Aria turned back to him, her expression still flushed. "Yes, I'm going. Why not?" she replied.
Ace smiled. "No reason. Just a question. Nice, since you're coming."
Aria hummed in response, turning back to gaze out the window.
As they arrived at Aria's house, Max waved goodbye to Ace. "Thank you, Brother. Bye!" he exclaimed.
Aria smiled, thanking Ace as well. "Take care," she said.
Ace's response sent shivers down her spine. "Take care of yourself for me," he said, his voice deep and serious.
As Ace drove away, Aria felt frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. "Seriously, I feel like suffocating," she muttered under her breath.
Max's voice broke the spell, reminding her that they had ice cream to attend to. "Let's go in. The ice cream will melt," he said, tugging on her hand.
As they entered the house, Aria's mother greeted them. "Oh, my dear, you're back. Did you enjoy your time out?" she asked.
Aria's eyes darted to Max, worried that he might spill the beans about their encounter with Ace. But Max just chimed in, "Yes, mother, we're back. You know what happened...?".
Aria quickly interrupted him, relieved that Max seemed to have forgotten about the earlier incident. "But, eh, Max, go bring the cups. Don't you want to have some ice cream?" she asked, trying to distract him.
As they enjoyed their ice cream, Aria breathed a sigh of relief. But little did she know that her brother had not forgotten about Ace after all.
Later that evening, Aria was on the phone with Helena, recounting their encounter with Ace. Helena's squeals of excitement could be heard through the phone, and Aria had to hold it away from her ear.
When Helena finally calmed down, Aria continued, "And then he told me to take care of myself for him. I don't know what to make of it."
Helena's voice was filled with excitement. "Oh my, he really said that? I feel like it's me!" she exclaimed.
Aria laughed, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Let's wait and see what happens. Maybe we'll have something to celebrate soon."
As Aria hung up the phone, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What did Ace's words really mean? And what would tomorrow bring?
The next morning In hexa school.
