Naruto : The ultimate Troublemaker

Chapter 76: Shikai's Homecoming

It was already well into the morning when Shikai opened his eyes. The soft singing of birds and the golden light of the sun filtering through the curtains indicated that it was past eight o'clock. After a moment contemplating the ceiling, he sat up and ran his hand through his unruly blond hair.

"A new day, a new personal mission," he murmured with a hint of irony in his voice.

He quickly got up, put on a simple outfit, and left his room. After a brief breakfast on the go, he headed towards Shikaku Nara's house, located in a peaceful clearing in the village, bordered by the forests that were the pride of their clan.

As he stood in front of the door, he knocked softly. A few seconds later, the door opened, revealing Yoshino, Shikaku's wife. When she set her eyes on Shikai, a look of surprise lit up her face.

"Shikai? Is that really you?!" she exclaimed, examining him with a mix of surprise and affection.

Before he could respond, she stepped forward to hug him, trying awkwardly to lift him.

"Oh, but look how much you've grown! Look at me, a real man now!"

Shikai, embarrassed, scratched the back of his head while smiling shyly.

"Good morning, Aunt Yoshino. You're still as energetic as ever," he said with a respectful tone.

From inside the house, a deep and calm voice resonated:

"Yoshino, who is it?"

Shikai raised his voice slightly as he took off his shoes.

"It's me, Uncle!"

As he entered the house, he caught a glimpse of Shikaku, sitting nonchalantly at the living room table, a cup of tea in hand. When he saw Shikai, his gaze quickly traveled from his feet to his head, as if assessing him.

"You? That kid?" he said with an amused tone, although a hint of seriousness could be read in his eyes. "You were supposed to be training Shikamaru, weren't you? And here you are, much later than expected."

Shikai sat at the table and replied calmly:

"The trainings took longer than expected. I even met another Sannin along the way."

Shikaku arched an eyebrow, intrigued.

"Another Sannin? That's worth an explanation."

Shikai began to recount his journey. He explained how he had spent time training with his aunt Tsunade, deepening his mastery of medical ninjutsu and fūinjutsu. Then, he spoke about the episode where Orochimaru had kidnapped him for reasons still unclear, and his escape thanks to Jiraiya's intervention.

"It was at that moment that Jiraiya-sama took me to Mount Myōboku to learn the Sennin Mode," he concluded, a slight smile on his face.

Shikaku slowly nodded, impressed despite himself.

"You've become much more powerful, Shikai. I even doubt I could beat you now."

Shikai softly laughed, raising a hand to moderate his uncle's words.

"You're exaggerating, Uncle. But if you want, we can still face off one of these days."

However, he discreetly activated his analysis chip, scanning Shikaku's skills to better understand his current strength.

Shikai nodded, impressed by his uncle's versatility, although he let nothing show.

"So, after all that training, you've returned here?" Shikaku asked, placing his cup on the table.

Shikai softly nodded, but Shikaku didn't seem entirely convinced.

'His presence is almost ghostly, even though he's sitting right in front of me. And his eyes... That gaze belongs to someone who has already killed, and not just once,' Shikaku thought, keeping his reflections to himself.

"I'd like to see Shikamaru," Shikai suddenly said, slightly changing the subject under his uncle's inquisitive gaze.

Shikaku raised an eyebrow before replying.

"He's at the academy right now. But I'm sure he'll be delighted to see you."

Shikai nodded, a tranquil smile on his lips.

"I'll wait then. When I have the time, I'll train him a bit. Maybe he'll need a boost with his shadow techniques."

Yoshino, who had been listening in the background while quickly putting food in a bowl, interjected:

"Shikamaru is intelligent, but a bit lazy. If you can give him some of your motivation, I'll be eternally grateful, Shikai."

"I wonder who he takes after... But I'll do my best, Aunt Yoshino."

"Hey, kid! You want Yoshino to kill me with these accusatory comments."

*hahaha*

They continued to chat casually. Yoshino shared anecdotes about Shikamaru's behavior at the academy, while Shikaku talked about the news of the Nara clan and Konoha in general.

Finally, Shikai stood up, stretching slightly.

"I should pay a visit to a few other people and then head to the hospital. There are important matters to attend to."

Yoshino had insisted that he have a proper breakfast before leaving. Despite his protests, she quickly filled his plate with rice, vegetables, eggs, and grilled fish.

"A shinobi can't go into battle on an empty stomach!" she declared with authority, crossing her arms.

"Aunt Yoshino, I'm not going into battle," Shikai tried, but faced with her piercing gaze, he resigned himself.

Then she approached to hand him a basket of fruits.

"Take this. You look like someone who often forgets to eat."

Shikai smiled, accepting the basket with gratitude.

"Thank you, Aunt Yoshino. I'll come by soon to see Shikamaru."

Shikaku, his arms crossed, watched him leave with a pensive expression.

'He's changed. Not just in power, but in aura. This boy is no longer just a shinobi of Konoha. What have you become, Shikai?'

Outside, Shikai took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. A new step in his journey was beginning, and he knew that his return to Konoha would not be without complications, even though it was in a way a vacation, he had to take advantage of it to forge relationships with important figures.

Back in his room, he put on his jonin attire before leaving the Nara estate.
