"I'm an elite warrior! An elite even among elites! I won't be scared into submission by a mere bra- ARGHH!" Raditz doubled over, spit flying from his mouth as Gray casually slammed his fist into his stomach.

25,000HP! (463,200/722,200)

"What was that? That didn't sound like begging to me," Gray hummed, watching as Raditz's shoulders twitched, the man obviously trying to bring an arm to cover his injured gut, but not having any.

"As if I'd ever beg a bastard like yo- GUH!" Raditz's words died as Gray's arm snapped forward, grabbing the man by his neck. Raditz's legs lashed out, trying to kick Gray, but Gray barely even felt them.

I have two options with you, Raditz. Either I kill you…

His grip tightened on Raditz's neck, causing the man to inhale sharply and spaz in his hand.

Or I beat you until you're too afraid to ever go against me.

In all honesty, Gray wanted to kill Raditz. He really wanted to kill Raditz. His body was demanding that he take revenge on the man for almost killing him just a week earlier, but he was holding back.

He decided that he would try to be smarter in how he acted. Key word here - try. He would try not to just act on his first instincts, but if Raditz was too much of a pain, then he would take no small amount of joy in killing the Saiyan elite.

Realistically, Raditz was more useful alive than dead. If Gray killed Radtiz, then he would only get one thing - satisfaction.

If he kept Raditz alive, then he had the potential to get a lot of things. The man might not look all that terrifying right now, but give him a Senzu bean to restore his arms and he'd be more helpful than any of his current companions in a fight.

More importantly, he had connections. Connections to his brother, Goku - or, probably Kakarot in this world - as well as King Vegeta. He was also a squad captain, so he had knowledge about the ins and outs of King Vegeta's military forces. He could know even more than Celia in some aspects.

Most importantly - he would be a strong subordinate for Gray's future plans. At some point, Gray would have to take down King Vegeta and become the Saiyan King to achieve his goals. As nice as it would be to just become stronger than King Vegeta and kill him, that wasn't realistic.

Saiyans respected strength, so the low and middle-class Saiyans would readily accept him as the new king, but not all Saiyans. He'd learned that in real time from watching Yamoshi. King Vegeta had squads upon squads of elite soldiers, and powerful connections within the Frieza Force. Gray recalled the words Celia had said to him before they left for Earth.

You can't be everywhere at once. 

Gray needed soldiers. Subordinates. Friends, even. He needed powerful people that would have his back, and that could help his ascension. He wished that his steadily growing future harem would be enough, but he knew they wouldn't be.

That was more glaring than ever at the moment. Gray had become stronger than nearly anyone on the entire planet, but in the same time, his friends had come nowhere close. Even the strongest among them, Celia, was only half as strong as Raditz was. Raditz, who couldn't hold out against Cooler's lieutenants for a week, even with a squad of 30 other Saiyans.

The party system could only do so much - it could help them get strong enough to hold their own and protect themselves, but it wouldn't make them strong enough to help him against the top dogs. They would be sidelined in the same way that most of the characters in the show were - watching him fight, having reaction lines as he barely scraped by against Frieza, or Cell, or Buu.

They would never be able to his Vegeta - to hold off Buu as he created a spirit bomb, or to take down Toppo as he battled with Jiren. He needed reliable allies.

I hope that the Z-Fighters can fill that role someday. When I eventually go against Frieza, we'll have a common enemy.

But, Gray couldn't rely on his tentative relationship with Kami to form a friendship with the Z-Fighters. He couldn't pin all his plans on them. He needed to start gathering allies now.

Or, in Raditz's case, an obedient subordinate.

Gray chucked Raditz forward, sending the man sprawling on his back.

Either bend the knee, or die.

"You're terrible at begging," Gray mocked the Saiyan, casually stomping down on Raditz's leg. Raditz let out a pained scream as Gray's foot slammed into his, his ankle shattering from the impact.

"I'll be blunt so there's no misunderstanding," Gray said, towering over the fallen Saiyan, "I could kill you easily. You don't stand a chance against me. I could give you a hundred free hits, and you'd still lose."

"Shut up, you damn br-AHHH!" Raditz yelled in pain again as Gray flicked his hand into a finger gun, firing a bullet into Raditz's leg.

All around them, the rest of the squad watched in silent horror, no one daring to try and help their captain.

"I wasn't finished," Gray said bluntly, "I could just kill you right now. I should just kill you right now. In fact, I want to just rip your head off! But…"

Gray leaned down, his hand grabbing the front of Raditz's armor and yanking him forward so their eyes met, "I'm a Saiyan, and you're a Saiyan. We're both Saiyans, on a mission on a dangerous planet. I'm also not a moron like you, so I'd like to keep as many of us alive as possible. You get what I'm saying?"

"Go fuck yourse-GRH!" Gray's fist flew forward, slamming into the front of Raditz's face. His nose burst open, blood dripping down his face as his head snapped back.

"That was the wrong thing to say," Gray hummed, yanking the man's head forward again so he was forced to stare into his eyes, "You don't seem to get it. You'll kneel before King Vegeta, but talk like that to me? Seems like I'll need to teach you that I'm stronger than even him now!" 

That's probably not true, but when you're as weak as Raditz is, you don't have any scope of strength. He just knows that I could beat his ass with one finger, and that King Vegeta could do the same.

Raditz's glared up at him, but his eyes seemed to wave for a second, as if he was slightly doubtful, "As if, you disrespectful littl-GAH!"

Gray slammed his hand sideways, backhanding Raditz's and sending him falling into the snow again. Then, he grabbed the front of his armor roughly, dragging him to his feet.

"Come on, put up a fight," Gray said gruffly, letting the man stabilize on his feet, "I'll show you just how stupid you are."

Raditz huffed, blood dripping out his mouth from the beating as he glared at Gray. For a few seconds, he didn't move, looking slightly unsure of what to say, "...Fine. I get it. I'll forget about what happened before, and I'll forget about this, so let's jus-GUH"

He didn't get to finish as Gray's arm shot forward again, gripping his neck tightly, "No, you really don't get it. You don't have to forget anything. You don't have the right to forget anything. If Vegeta is your King, then I might as well be your god!"

Gray slammed his fist upwards, launching blood and spit out of Raditz's mouth as it tore through his already cracked chest armor, making contact with his skin.

75,000HP! (108,200/722,200)

Raditz hunched over again, and Gray shoved him downwards, sending him sprawling in the snow once again. He raised his foot, stomping it on the downed man's head and pushing his face into the snow.

10,000HP! (98,200/722,200)

Then, Gray crouched down, pushing harder on Raditz's head, "I'm the Captain now. Understand?"

The snowy landscape was silent, no one moving as Raditz's body lay still, blood pooling around him.

"Understood?" Gray asked again, shoving Raditz's head further into the snow.

"Y-Yes…" Raditz finally spit out.

"What? I can't hear you?" Gray mocked him.

This might be a bit much, but if I let him live then I need to ensure he'll never try to go against me.

"Understood, captain," Raditz groaned out.

"Good, now…" Gray hummed, flicking his hand into a gun shape and pressing it into the top of Raditz's head, "I told you to beg, didn't?"

There was silence again for a moment, and Gray pressed his finger harder into Raditz's skull, "Your captain gave you an order."

"L-Let me live…" Raditz spit out, the man's pride obviously burning from the humiliation.

"Still can't hear you," Gray hummed, the tip of his finger starting to glow with a red Ki bullet.

"Please let me live, captain!" Raditz shouted into the snow, the man's body tense as he forced himself through the humiliation. 

Good enough. If I go any further, I might end up causing some permanent damage. And…

Gray stepped back, looking down at the man as he laid in the snow.

I hate having to be the bad guy!

"Will he behave, Celia?" Gray yelled back to the girl, who nodded. Her ability was especially useful in a situation like this.

"He will," Ceilia confirmed a touch of amusement in her normally emotionless tone, "He's too afraid to try anything for a long while. You might've given him a fair bit of trauma."

I feel like an asshole, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

"You all saw that, right?" Gray asked, looking around the rest of the squad members.

"I'm the captain now," He continued, none of them willing to meet his eyes.

"Understood?" He asked, his eyes hardening as he stared them down. Slowly, each squad member looked up at him, and a chorus of affirmation came out.

"Y-Yes captain!"

"Got it!"

"No problem with me!"

"Captain Gray!"

"Good," Gray hummed, looking over his new squad. Then, he blinked as a row of notifications came in.

The entire area became quiet again, everyone staring blankly at Saeko.
