Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy!

Chapter 23: A Birthday Gift

"The first ruler of the empire, Elione Tyamasaki had won the battle against the monsters and beasts and laid the foundation of our empire." Abi stared at Olivia with glittering eyes as she answered the fifth question.

Olivia sighed. It was much less than it should have been in her age. But those eyes.. Olivia clapped hard, "bravo! My little angel did so well. I am proud of you." Abi giggled with her eyes shining and full of joy.

Olivia tried to ignore how Abi was touching her hair and jewels again and again. She had worn her best dress and was not even sitting to make sure she did not have any crease on her clothes. It was hard to ignore her attempts to look her best.

"Thank you! I studied the whole morning. Do you think my mother would be proud of me too?" Olivia felt a needle prick her heart. She did not find a way to convince her sister to come here.

"Ah, yes, my sister is proud of you. But she might not come today." Abi's smile froze and her eyes dimmed immediately. She bit her lips to complain but the stark change of her expressions was hard to ignore.

"Ah! Is that so? I thought.." she tried as she looked around. Not sure what to say as she looked at her pretty frilled dress. It was brought by her mother two years ago. It did not fit her well anymore. Yet she wore it to show how much she cherished it.

"Yes, she wanted to bring that gift for you. But do you know.." Olivia swapped the little thin girl in her arms. She was so skinny! "That lord Damon's birthday is in two days. She is busy with the preparations. Abi, would you like to send a gift to Damon too?"

Abi paused. She had never thought her intimidating first brother liked her. He would not care if she gave him the gift, no?

Looking at the gloomy face, Olivia added, "it is sad to not get a gift from your family. Damon is your brother. He would be happy if you send him something." the girl laughed immediately. Delighted by the word family, Abi nodded at once without hesitation.

Looking at her innocent face covered in creases again for a completely different reason, Olivia sighed.

"Should I send him my toys?" the girl must have thought hard. But she did not have other belongings.

"Hmm, Damon is a little big to use your toys. How about a card? Or flowers?" the little girl's animated eyes blinked. As she leaned on Olivia and contemplated, her eyes sparkled.

"I will make a crown of roses for him. I have learnt it from Mira recently." her eyes brightened again and Olivia could only thank the god that she forgot about her mother. "Aunt, shall i make one for mother too? She would come as soon as she finished her work, right?"

"..." looking at her eager face waiting for a reply, Olivia leaned and hugged her tighter.

"Abi only loves her mother. She did not care about her aunt at all. You did not offer me a crown. Is it because I am not a noble?" Abi's eyes widened with shock and guilt. She wriggled in Olivia's arms.

"No, no. I will go and make one for you first. Then we can make one for Damon and mother together. Come, we need a lot of flowers and leaves. I have seen a strong tendril." she grabbed Olivia's hands and started running with her small legs.

Olivia stared at the open books fleetingly. Oriana would only be happy if Abi spent more time in her studies and earned some value. But the little girl..! Forget it! Little girl's happiness meant more than her stubborn sister.

Damon paused in his walk. He stared at two figures in the garden. Normally, he would have ignored them and changed his way so that they did not need to encounter each other. But he paused when he heard his name.

"Do you think brother Damon would like yellow roses? I think red and pink would be better." he frowned and looked at the child again while standing behind a tree.

Olivia laughed heartily as she imagined the cold and cruel Damon wearing a crown of red and pink roses and holding Abi in his arms. But her laughter was misunderstood.

Abi felt proud at her choice and collected more red and pink roses.

"I knew brother Damon would like them. He always wears such boring grey and blue colors. This change would be better for him." the way Abi boosted it, Olviia only felt bemused and helpless.

Even Damon likes pink and red colors. He would not accept the gift easily. But perhaps it could be a changing point of their relationship. As long as Damon accepted that she and kids meant no harm, she could convince him to let them go.

"Brother Damon would be busy with his work. So I will wait for him where he trains. As long as he likes it, I can make many in the future. Aunt, he would like it, right?" Olviia nodded at once as she boosted how she had seen Damon wearing flower crowns so many times.

"Of course, he would love it. I am sure he would wear it to his birthday party too. He would be proud that his little sister had sewn it with his young hands. But do not make so many, it might hurt your fingers. Then he would only be upset. You do not want to make him sad right?" Damon's eyes twitched. The girl should take spouting nonsense as her profession. The king must want a few to fawn on him.

Damon watched as she sighed and helped Abi reach the flowers higher to her.

Olivia sat on the ground as they collected flowers. With her small and thin hands, Abi made a crown with the roses while Olivia helped her.

"There! This one is for brother Damon."
