Chapter 150: Peeking Afterlife Realm

The silent night stretched out with a chilly feel, with not a single star dotting the sky. Only the pale moon hung, illuminating the inky black curtain that covered the horizon.

Under this sky, the members of Satomi's Adjuvant gathered around a purple bonfire that blazed with a strange flame, its tiny sparks like stars born from the fire itself.

Satomi, Shouma, and Kisara sat together, their conversation filled with nostalgia for the past, occasionally inviting Tamaki who only smiled faintly to join in. Their laughter was faintly audible, providing a warm backdrop to the cold night.

On the other side, a small circle of girls formed. Enju, Tina, Yuzuki, Kayo, and Midori were engaged in a conversation full of curiosity. Their attention was drawn to Midori, especially her unique cat ears.

Despite being besieged by questions, Midori could only answer clumsily, sometimes confused by their enthusiasm. However, in between the interactions, Midori's eyes often glanced at El.

Although El was sitting near them, he was silent and focused on reading a blue-bound book in his hands.

His face was serious, his gaze glued to the pages full of intricate writing. El seemed to be immersed in her own world, unaffected by the conversations or laughter around her.

His silence created an invisible distance, making the others, including Kayo, feel awkward trying to approach him.

They eventually chose to continue their conversation without involving El. The awkwardness was felt by all, but no one dared to break it.

Meanwhile, El's mind struggled with itself. His eyes moved following the words in the Mind of Sword book, but the content of his thoughts was different.

'No matter how many times I read this book,' he muttered to himself, 'it's so hard to understand...' A pent-up grievance, hidden behind his cold face that showed no hint of emotion.

The campfire continued to burn, its purple light dancing on their faces, presenting a contrast between warm togetherness and deep personal solitude.

The originally calm night suddenly turned into a small chaos when Enju, with a mischievous smile on her face, looked at Midori who seemed to glance at El frequently.

"Midori-chan... Do you like Adrian?" chirped Enju without hesitation.

Midori's face instantly turned red like a ripe tomato. Her hands waved in the air, trying to deny it frantically. "Eh? Anu... Umm, no! That's not it!" she stammered, her voice trembling.

Enju's words were like a bomb that exploded in the middle of the group. Satomi, Kisara, Tamaki, and especially the promoter, Shouma, immediately focused their attention on Midori with curious gazes.

Not just them, even Yuzuki, Tina, and Kayo also looked very interested.

"What? Since when did you like a guy like that ice sculpture? How could you? This world has gone crazy!" said Kayo with almost too much shock.

"Oh my! Is this called love at first sight?" Yuzuki replied enthusiastically, her face beaming with curiosity.

"Please, explain it to us," Tina continued, her cheeks slightly flushed but her expression serious, demanding an explanation.

Meanwhile, Satomi, Kisara, and Tamaki exchanged glances before turning to Shouma, who was scratching his head despite not being itchy, his expression full of awkwardness.

Shouma finally let out a long breath. "Midori... I'm not the type to be overprotective or forbid this kind of relationship. But... your ages are quite far apart, you know?" he said in a quiet but clear tone.

Shouma's reaction made the atmosphere even more crowded. Everyone, even those who were originally quiet, began to turn their heads towards El, who was sitting casually reading a blue-bound book. His face remained flat, as if he didn't care about the commotion around him.

"I just found out, the type of boy you like is a guy like him..." Shouma added with a sigh, this time with a resigned tone.

El, finally noticing the gaze directed at her, looked up from her book. "Hm? What's wrong with you guys? Why are you looking at me like that? Awkward expressions and... disgust?" he said in surprise and curiosity.

Suddenly, El smelled the scent of ill will coming from Kayo as the little girl started to pick up her cell phone.

"Wait, Kayo, put down that cell phone. I smell bad intentions coming from you," he said, his tone flat but sharp, immediately directing a sharp gaze at Kayo who was holding the cell phone.

However, instead of complying, Kayo with a serious expression started a phone call, her finger already hovering over the button to contact the local police.

Surprisingly, some of the other people seemed to agree with his idea. Because they didn't try to stop Kayo from calling the local police.

The situation that was about to get even stranger was suddenly broken by Midori's voice. "That's not it! You guys misunderstood!" Her tone was firm, but she almost bit her own tongue in nervousness.

The incident made everyone silent for a moment, before finally one by one began to chuckle, while Midori continued to try to explain herself with an increasingly red face.

The night that was originally filled with laughter, slowly turned into an atmosphere full of curiosity and a little tension.

Midori's red face heated up even more, displaying a mixture of embarrassment, confusion, and sudden determination.

"That's... Let me hold your hand! Just for a moment! I want to embroider it." Midori said her voice full of determination.

Everyone fell silent. Those words immediately attracted attention.

Enju nodded in an understanding manner, though still with a mocking tone. "Ooh, that's right. You said you could tell someone's fingerprints, hmm... but that's kinda pointless, huh?" she said, her disappointed tone seeming to deliberately provoke a reaction.

Satomi glared at Enju with a flat expression. "Enju... You almost put our friend behind bars."

However, Enju, with her trademark confidence, replied without hesitation, "Nee, Rentaro, it's called pure love! Like me and you! Love each other and will get married in the future! You promised!"

Rentaro's expression instantly turned frantic, especially when Kisara put his hands on his shoulders. A dark aura loomed behind the girl, creating a tense atmosphere. "Satomi-kun, please explain... what does that mean?"

Rentaro immediately raised both hands, trying to save herself. "This is a misunderstanding, Kisara! Really!"

Meanwhile, El, who seemed to have just noticed the crowd, closed her book slowly, then tilted her head slightly.

"What's wrong? I was reading too seriously," El said in a calm tone. His eyes then fell on Midori. "But, are you going to try my fortune telling?"

"Yes," Midori replied with growing conviction, though her face remained flushed.

El gave a small nod. "I don't mind that, but are you sure?"

"Yes! I'm sure," Midori replied firmly, though her voice trembled slightly.

"Alright, I'll do it," El said before getting up from his seat, walking slowly towards the little girl.

The atmosphere around them was tense, everyone's gaze fixed on the two.

El extended his right hand in a calm but cautious gesture. "Go ahead, but don't be surprised. If the situation becomes dangerous, I will take a little harsh action."

El's cold yet firm words made everyone, including Satomi, Kisara, Shouma, and even Enju, feel both confused and curious.

Although no one fully understood, El actually already knew what was going to happen. The spoilers about Midori's ability, although incomplete, were enough to give her an idea.

Midori's divination ability does not see the future, but rather dives into the heart and soul of a person, an ability that for El feels like opening a door to a world that should never be seen.

El knew his soul was far from normal. Behind his calm demeanor, he hid a world of darkness and pain.

El's soul was like the afterlife itself, a place where the cycle of pain, birth, and death spun endlessly. However, not just one, but billions of horrible cycles.

Even a glimpse of it is enough to destroy anyone who tries to look at it. This was an extremely serious condition, one that could leave a person severely traumatized, never to go away.

However, Midori forged ahead with her faith, despite perhaps not knowing what she was about to face. Meanwhile, around the campfire, everyone was holding their breath, waiting for what would happen next.
