Ch84-1 - (Extra Story) Flower Viewing with Fenrir☆
(Extra Story) Flower Viewing with Fenrir☆
Here’s a little bonus story (´꒳`)੭⁾⁾
Enjoying the cherry blossoms under the sakura tree. It feels very Japanese, doesn’t it?
Well, right now I have a young winter Fenrir with me. He’s a wolf-like beast, active only in the winter, but still…
I’m still myself—El!
“Let’s do some flower viewing, Fenrir.”
“Sure.”
He agreed instantly. Thank you for the quick answer.
In the warmth of spring, Fenrir yawned widely and lowered his body to the ground, bringing his face closer to me as he asked, looking relaxed.
“What kind of scene are you imagining, El?”
“Under the blooming sakura, eating, drinking, chatting—that’s my image of flower viewing. I’d love to hold a sakura festival in the Fel Snow Kingdom someday, but how about we do a little trial run just between us for now?”
“Still with the polite tone?”
Fenrir still hates when I use polite speech with him.
“It just slips out sometimes, you know?”
“Not for me.”
“That’s a lie! I saw you teasing the king the other day by using polite speech on purpose to fluster him.”
“You saw that, did you? Heh.”
“You’re laughing about it now!”
Fenrir’s silver whiskers twitched. His spring coat had a faint pink hue, but his whiskers remained silver, and his claws were still ice-colored—a remnant of winter.
This seems to be a characteristic that stays with him all year round.
“Alright, let’s grow some fruit trees for our flower viewing.”
“I still have the large pearls from when you tripped and cried the other day.”
“You’re making me blush without even meaning to…!”
“It was so adorable. It brought me nothing but happiness.”
“You big show-off wolf!”
When I talk about Fenrir like that, my demon horse, Grea, comes rushing over at full speed.
Uh-oh.
“El-sama! What kind of language is that!?”
“Grea, stop! Your energy is too much, I’m going to get skewered by your unicorn horn!”
I tried to dodge Grea by stepping here and there, using my underdeveloped spring wind magic to boost my speed.
After being chased around and running out of breath, I returned to Fenrir, panting.
“Look, El. Here’s some ice water. I also found some wild raspberries in the grass. And sakura petals are falling around us. This is what flower viewing is, right?”
“That’s not quite it!!!!”
I shouted, then gulped down the ice water, only to cough as it went down the wrong way. I stuffed my face with raspberries, smearing the juice around my mouth. The soft spring fur, now tangled with cherry blossoms, made me look like a tiny sakura tree.
It wasn’t a pretty sight… Grea was visibly appalled. Ugh.
Meanwhile, Grea struck a perfect pose beneath the cherry blossoms, trying to look all majestic.
Fenrir sat calmly between the sakura trees, his expression gentle. Just being looked at by him made me feel at ease.
He may say strange things from time to time, but it’s just a difference in perception—Fenrir always has a soft aura about him.
Taking a nap buried in his fur, swaying in the spring breeze, sounded like the best thing ever.
As I slowly approached, he licked the corner of my mouth.
“You smelled sweet.”
“Yipe!!!”
I let out a yelp like a dog. I couldn’t help it—what was that… What even was that!!!
After acting all slick, Fenrir gave me a charming smile. What the heck!
Sure, my mouth was covered in raspberry juice, but still!
Embarrassed, I buried myself in Fenrir’s fluffy tail. His neck fur had gotten a little sleeker lately.
“Let me stay here and be useless…”
“You’re not useless, El. Look, the sakura you brought to life are so beautiful.”
Fenrir raised his tail gently, and what I saw, having tumbled down, was a flurry of falling cherry blossoms.
I was speechless, captivated.
I’ll continue to guide this spring forward. But first, I’ll enjoy this one to the fullest.
