Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Too Dull
Grandfather, father, mother, big brother, and apart from these relatives, there was that seemingly virtuous sister-in-law.
In her previous life, she had actually never paid much attention to this woman since her big brother didn't have much feelings for her either. It seemed that when the time came and with the family rules in place, he had chosen a woman from a similar family background who was also mild-tempered to get married to. After the marriage, the two didn't spend much time together, and even moved out of the main residence. Su Yanyi truly didn't have many opportunities to interact with this woman. However, she had never expected that this woman would turn out to be a pawn of the Wang Family, aiming to infiltrate the Su family to take over, which was nothing short of delusional madness!
Wang Zhirou, Wang Zhilin, and also that Wang Family, Su Yanyi etched this account deeply into her heart.
In the evening, most of the Su family members had returned home. Grandfather Su and Father Su and Mother Su arrived home one after another. Big Brother Su couldn't make it back from overseas. That woman, Wang Zhirou, was nowhere to be found, and Su Yanyi didn't care to inquire, enjoying dinner with her grandfather and parents instead.
Grandfather Su was an elderly man with a lively spirit who doted on Su Yanyi the most. At the dinner table, he couldn't help but ask, "Little Yi, where's Jiran? Didn't he come back with you?"
"He'll come with me next time." Her return today was impulsive; she hadn't thought to invite Qin Jiran along.
To this response, Grandfather Su was somewhat surprised. He had asked this question many times before, but the answer was always silence or rejection, never agreement. Yet now, Su Yanyi's response brightened Grandfather Su's eyes.
Grandfather Su chuckled and said, "Then I'll be waiting for both of you to visit me. Jiran is a good kid."
The Su family members were not fools; they all saw the relationship between Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran. Besides the long-standing family rules, the Su family's ethos was actually very progressive, which was why they had agreed to Su Yanyi marrying an actor who had just started out, especially since the actor was an orphan.
Father Su and Mother Su, listening on the side, also had shining eyes, seemingly full of anticipation.
Mother Su said, "Yes, bring Little Ran with you next time, have him sign a few autographs for me. Those girls at my company are crazy about him. Oh, right, I also heard he publicly confessed to you on the official website today. Hehe, I think it's about time you two go public with your relationship. People are always asking me if you're married, wanting to introduce you to a boyfriend."
Father Su also chimed in, "Exactly, when will you make it public? We could use a celebration and let our friends have a good time too."
Su Yanyi and Qin Jiran's marriage was known to a very few people, and the Wang family only knew because of Wang Zhirou's connection.
"Perhaps in a while, I'm a bit busy right now," Su Yanyi said uncertainly. She didn't really like overly formal things. Since they were married, they were naturally husband and wife, and there was no need for a big fuss.
As for whether to go public with the relationship, Su Yanyi hadn't given it much thought. However, she did catch a peculiar piece of news from Mother Su's words, and a bit slow to react, she said, "Jiran confessed to me? When did that happen?"
If anyone could be frustratingly obtuse, it was her, knowing about the matter but acting as if it had nothing to do with herself, showing a probable negative score in emotional intelligence.
But then Su Yanyi thought of how she felt when she saw Qin Jiran's words at that time. Could it be that Qin Jiran's words on the official website were really meant for her? Like what her mother said, was it a public confession to her?
Such a confession, however, would be quite odd, not at all formal, and without even the name of the intended. How could anyone know who it was for?
Su Yanyi thought dismissively, and without waiting for a reply, went on, "Mom, you might be misunderstanding. It's just a publicity stunt, you shouldn't take it seriously."
"A publicity stunt? Does Best Actor Qin need to use such tactics for publicity?" Mother Su felt the urge to roll her eyes. Was she the one misunderstanding, or was her daughter just slow on the uptake?
"Mhm!" Su Yanyi nodded seriously and then lowered her head to eat her meal, a clear sign she didn't want to talk any further, leaving the elders helpless but amused.
The next day, the news of Best Actor Qin Jiran's public declaration on his official website occupied the front pages of all major media outlets, and the numerous speculations and discussions were dizzying. When Su Yanyi arrived at the company, even the people there were discussing it.
"Who do you think is Qin Jiran's true love? Could it be that little Best Actress Zhang Feifei? I think they're quite a match, and weren't there rumors about them not long ago?" a female artist in the company said.
"I'm not sure it's Zhang Feifei; their rumors were for movie promotions. Zhang Feifei is several years older than Qin Jiran, there's no way he'd be interested in her, especially now when he's Best Actor Qin," another artist retorted.
"That doesn't rule it out, though. Nowadays, May-December romances are very trendy; age is never the issue."
"Even if age isn't the issue, Best Actor Qin wouldn't be interested in her. We are from the same crew; I know the truth the best. On set, Qin Jiran never paid any attention to Zhang Feifei..."
Su Yanyi stopped listening to the rest of the conversation and directly entered the elevator to go to her office.
"In the future, be careful about spreading rumors about Qin Jiran, don't pass on what shouldn't be passed on. Even if it's publicity, it's not allowed," Su Yanyi said with a cold face to Kang Zhong on the side.
"Yes, I know." Kang Zhong noted Su Yanyi's instruction in his book, marking it with a star as an important point. After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "How about this time?"
The public confession by Qin Jiran on his official website didn't quite seem like a rumor for publicity, and Qin Jiran's side hadn't made any move either. Kang Zhong, as Qin Jiran's new agent, still needed to be concerned.
"It's up to Qin Jiran himself, whatever he says goes. If there's a problem he can't solve, then he can come to me," Su Yanyi replied. She wasn't entirely sure of Qin Jiran's thoughts, but her support hadn't wavered, and she had great faith in the man's capabilities. Some issues didn't need her intervention.
"Got it, I understand," Kang Zhong silently added another star to the importance of Qin Jiran in his heart, practically placing him in the category of family.
Meanwhile, Qin Jiran had just arrived at the company, having spent the night reading through two scripts. He liked both of them and thinking that Su Yanyi had personally selected them for him, he couldn't help feeling excited and was eager to see Su Yanyi.
