The Terror of the Pirates

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Sorting It Out

It wasn't that Alex was pretending to be dumb.

It was mainly that the timing of Sunny's question was a bit strange.

Seeing Alex's puzzled expression, Sunny added, "Arthur's hand."

"Oh, that..."

Alex looked at Sunny strangely.

After a pause, he put down the mop bucket and reenacted the evasive movement in slow motion.

After doing this, he looked at Sunny and said in an uncertain tone, "Is that it?"

Sunny was silent.

A few seconds later, there was a sudden sound of something falling from the counter.

Alex instinctively looked under the counter and, after seeing a small part of the gun handle exposed at the edge of the bottom of the counter, his eyelids twitched.

Sunny said in a timely manner, "It's just that the gun fell accidentally, so don't worry about it."

Afterwards, she bent down to pick up the gun and casually placed it on the counter.

"I couldn't remember the action you just demonstrated, so could you please demonstrate it again?"

"..."

Alex looked at the flintlock gun lying horizontally on the counter, and the muzzle of the gun was inadvertently aimed at himself.

He pondered for a moment, and of course, he would not demonstrate that meaningless action again.

Although he was not sure of Sunny's motives for being so persistent, it seemed that he could no longer be perfunctory.

"I didn't use any method, I just happened to be on my guard at the time, so I was able to dodge in time. Besides, this kind of thing is no big deal, right?"

Upon hearing this, Sunny looked at Alex quietly.

After a long while, she nodded and said calmly, "It really is no big deal. You go ahead and get back to work."

"..."

Alex was at a loss for words and could only silently label Sunny as weird.

He then put the mop and bucket in the storage room.

When he returned to the shop, Sunny was still sitting in the same place.

The flintlock musket that had previously been lying across the counter was nowhere to be seen, and in its place was a piece of paper with a pencil pressed against it.

Alex's gaze flicked over the paper and pencil, and he asked, "Can I go back to my room now?"

Sunny nodded, pulled out the piece of paper pressed against the pencil, and motioned for Alex to come and take it.

Alex understood and walked over to the counter to take the scrap of paper that Sunny handed him.

There were a few lines of writing on it.

A cursory glance showed that they were some kind of instructions.

Why write something so brief on paper?

Alex was full of questions.

After he had put the scrap of paper away, Alex caught sight of the pencil in the corner of his eye and a thought occurred to him.

"Sunny, can I take this pencil back to my room?"

"As you wish."

"Thank you."

Alex took the pencil and turned to leave.

Sunny watched him go, then took a notebook and a newspaper from the drawer under the counter.

She placed both on the counter.

The newspaper was set aside, and the notebook was opened halfway.

The page that had been turned over contained some information with names.

Sunny glanced at it, then turned the page again.

The page also had writing on it, and in the top half of the page was the name of Kid in big letters.

Without looking any further, Sunny flipped through the pages a few times before finally coming to a completely blank page.

Then she took a pencil from the drawer, looked at the newspaper content for a moment, and then wrote something in the notepad with the pencil.

A few minutes later, Sunny stopped writing.

The page, which had been blank, was now half-written.

At the bottom of the words was Alex's full name, along with a big question mark.

After one last look at Alex's name, Sunny closed the notebook and put it, along with the pencil, in the back of the drawer.

"Let's go talk to Saul,"

Sunny whispered to herself.

Alex returned to the room where he had woken up.

He was surprised that he had been accepted so easily.

However, Alex could also see that the head of the household, Saul, was quite casual about this.

The reason for bringing him back was probably purely to use him as the future drudge of the store.

"Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it,"

Alex said to himself, locking the door behind him, then plopped down in the dusty chair and scrutinized the contents of the draft paper.

[No matter day or night, do not go out, stay honestly in the house.]

[Do not touch the goods on the shelves.]

[The basement is off-limits.]

[There are ingredients in the kitchen fridge.]

[We'll talk about the rest tomorrow.]

Alex read the contents of the scratch paper with mixed feelings.

Couldn't these things just be said verbally?

Alex shook his head slightly, unable to understand Sunny's style of operation. He threw the scratch paper onto the table, which was also covered in dust, and then picked up the pencil he had brought with him.

Hunter's Notes:

As soon as he thought of it, a black notebook appeared out of thin air.

He flipped to a blank page at random, closed his eyes, and tried to recall his memories of One Piece.

In order to consolidate and organize these memories, he planned to slowly transcribe them, then go over them, and write them again a few more times.

The quill pen that came with the Hunter's Notes was inkless, but it was the only way to leave a permanent mark in the Hunter's Notes.

As for other pens,

such as the pencil in Alex's hand,

he could use it to scribble on any page in the Hunter's Notes.

But then, as long as he removed the Hunter's Notes, the words and doodles left on the page would turn into graphite ash and fall to the ground.

Alex could thus use this at will to consolidate his memories.

You have to understand that the information converted from these memories may all become his nourishment in the future.

"It's true that the Straw Hat Pirates are the ones who left the deepest impression..."

"After all, they are the main characters, so there is a lot of information about them."

"But the period when they were really powerful was two years after the start of the story."

"That's too far away..."

"Judging from Kid's age, there are still a few years until the start of the story, right?"

"Besides, there are plenty of more suitable targets, there's no need to target them."

"Oh yeah, the Arlong Pirates. I wonder if the Hunter's Notes can be used on the Fish-Men, and the Giants too!"

"If they can, I can't even imagine."

"By the way, the Arlong Pirates are in the East Blue, and this is the West Blue. Can they just sail there?"

"I remember that Kid seems to be from the South Blue. Since he can come to the West Blue, he should be able to go from the West Blue to the East Blue."

"It seems pointless to think about it now."

Alex was combing through his memories while scribbling on the page.

Although he knew nothing about sailing, it didn't stop him from thinking outside the box.

As he immersed himself in it, time passed by.

Saul's Room

Several lit candles were placed on the windowsill, beside the bed, on the table, and other places, providing sufficient light for the tens of square meters of the room.

There are electric lights, but Saul doesn't use them.

This has always been one of the things that Sunny couldn't understand.

"You came here specifically to tell me that Alex is abnormal?"

Saul sat cross-legged on a large double bed, holding a slender gold-plated pipe in his right hand.

The smoke was pungent.

His gaze fell slightly scrutinizingly on Sunny in front of him through the smoke.

"But as you know, I've never cared about that."

"Saul, Alex is different from the others..."

"How?"

"..."

Sunny couldn't think of an answer for a moment.

Saul gently rubbed the stem of the pipe.

"You're right, he is very different."
