The Terror of the Pirates

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Shelves

Early the next morning.

Alex opened his eyes, his face full of weariness.

He had spent last night combing through information and had lost track of time.

He had fallen asleep exhausted, only to wake up after less than two hours.

Fortunately, he had completed a hunt yesterday, otherwise his body would not have been able to withstand the strain.

Once he woke up, Alex was unable to go back to sleep.

He lifted the thin quilt and got up.

He didn't know what work Saul would assign to him.

Anyway, in order to settle down as soon as possible, he had already put himself in the position of a hard worker.

After rubbing his cheeks, Alex opened the door and walked out.

The hallway was so quiet that the slight creak of the wooden floorboards was very audible.

At the end of the corridor, in the dead corner, there was a window boarded up with wooden planks. The morning sun shone through the gaps in the window, creating speckled pillars of light that fell to the ground.

Alex looked at the few other closed doors and, without lingering too long, walked down the corridor.

He went down the stairs to the first floor.

The corridor on the right led to the shop, while the one on the left led to the living room and kitchen.

It was still early, so the shop door was not open.

However, Sunny was already awake and sitting at the dining table having breakfast.

Alex went to wash up briefly and then went to the dining room, which was connected to the kitchen.

He was starving.

Yesterday he could hold out a little, but today he couldn't, and he wasn't sure if it was because his body was recovering well.

Sunny looked up at Alex, who looked famished, and pushed a glass of milk in front of his seat, indicating that Alex should sit down and eat.

Alex didn't bother to be polite, and pulled out a chair and sat down.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a set of dishes with a few remnants on them in front of the other empty seat. He guessed that Saul had left them after eating.

Alex lifted his wooden cup and took a sip of milk. His brows involuntarily furrowed as he felt the unique pungent smell of raw milk in his mouth.

He gulped down the raw milk despite the discomfort, and then picked up a piece of meat. After a few bites, he felt a sense of illusion of being revived.

He had to admit that the restaurant looked shabby, but the food was really good.

But what made Alex feel most comfortable was the carefree attitude of Saul and Sunny, which was quite different from what he had expected of pirates.

Moreover, in a way, Saul was his savior.

After gulping down a few meat patties in a row, Alex slowed down.

He glanced at Sunny, who had already eaten almost all of his food, and thought about the note on the paper he had received yesterday, which said that he could not go out during the day or night.

"Sunny, what is Mad Hatter Town like?"

"Why don't you go out and find out?"

"???"

Alex was full of question marks.

He could still remember the content of the paper given to him yesterday.

Looking at Sunny's expressionless face, Alex thought to himself that this guy might be taking revenge for the way he had dismissed her yesterday.

Clatter –

Just as he was thinking, he heard the sound of Sunny pushing away his chair.

"After you finish eating, clean up this mess and then clean the store. You have half an hour."

With those words, Sunny went to the second floor without looking back.

Alex shook his head, swept up the rest of the breakfast, and began to clean up.

If he was only responsible for cleaning, then his drudgery was too easy.

After cleaning the table, Alex brought the cleaning tools to the store.

When cleaning the shelves, Alex paid special attention.

After all, one of the precautions Sunny gave was not to touch the weapons on sale.

You can't touch them, but you can look at them.

There are three shelves in the store. The first shelf displays swords of various styles, the second shelf muskets of different lengths, and the third shelf displays a mix of swords and guns.

If memory serves, yesterday Evan Watt's long, blood-stained sword was wiped clean by Saul and placed on the third shelf.

Looking at the third shelf, which was clearly overwhelmingly dominant in terms of quantity, Alex recalled the rather familiar actions of Saul yesterday, and couldn't help but fall into deep thought: "..."

A shelf dedicated to second-hand goods?

And the source of the goods goes without saying.

However, strictly speaking, for cold weapons such as swords, as long as there is no substantial damage, it doesn't matter if they are second-hand or not.

Alex's gaze shifted away from the third shelf and turned to the shelf with a dozen guns.

There weren't many, and the shelf looked even emptier as a result.

Alex looked at the guns.

Whether on Earth or in Hunter World, guns have always had a stronger presence than cold weapons.

Compared to cold weapons such as swords, Alex knew more about guns.

When he was in Hunter World, even though his cultivation had reached a level where he no longer needed to rely on a gun, he still carried a pistol with him at all times.

He can't say he's very skilled in marksmanship, but he can guarantee basic shooting accuracy.

However, he is also well aware that in the world of One Piece, cold weapons such as swords have a much stronger presence than firearms.

Among the ruthless people who have reached a certain level of cultivation, most of them also use cold weapons rather than firearms.

However, it is not that firearms do not have enough potential, it is just that there are only a handful of people in the original story who can make the most of the [range advantage] of firearms.

"Is Keanu's gun also in here?"

Alex suddenly thought of Kid, who came to the store yesterday.

The so-called Keanu gun can make Kid so obsessed, so I think the quality must not be low.

He looked closely at the few guns on the shelf, but Alex, who was only familiar with modern guns, really couldn't tell the difference.

With his current knowledge of flintlock guns, he couldn't tell the difference between the quality of these dozen flintlock guns, let alone find Keanu's gun.

"I need to get one as soon as possible."

Although the power of the flintlock gun was not as good as modern firearms, it did not affect Alex's appreciation of them.

He scanned the shelves with envy, his mind wandering.

The most lacking thing in hunting in the early days was a simple and brutal killing tool like a gun.

Resisting the urge to swipe a second-hand musket from the third shelf, Alex quickly wiped down the shelves.

After cleaning up, he threw the cleaning tools back into the storage room, and exactly half an hour had passed.

Then, on time, Sunny came downstairs and into the shop.

Alex sensed that Sunny seemed in a good mood.

Little did he know that Sunny was in a good mood because she didn't have to do any of the dirty work for a while.

If Alex didn't die young, this period of time would be extended indefinitely.

Under Alex's watchful eye, Sunny pulled out a thin ruler from the counter and walked over to the shelves, carefully measuring the goods on them.

That action made Alex's scalp tingle.

Shit, is she playing it so big?

He thought that Sunny was using the ruler to check the goods on the shelves to see if he had touched them.

But as he slowly looked down, he realized that wasn't the case.

Watching silently as Sunny fine-tuned and straightened each item after measuring it, Alex just felt his scalp tingle even more.

Afraid to disturb Sunny, Alex waited patiently.

After an hour, Sunny finally finished and the new day's business finally began.

"Where's Saul?"

Alex was a little surprised to see that Saul had not come down yet.

Sunny, who was sitting at the counter, glanced at him and said expressionlessly, "Saul went to Flower Street for morning exercise and will usually be back before lunch."

"Oh, he went for morning exercise."

Alex suddenly realized why Saul could still maintain his strength at such an old age.

Huh?

Wait a minute.

Something doesn't seem right.
