Chapter 28: I'm your new god & Ambush
Being made the Academy Overseer was going to be simultaneously the most amusing thing she had ever done, but also would sadly delay her training slightly. As of this moment, she was up to being able to use 11 Shadow Clones for her daily training, but considering her duties she'd have to only use 10 - the other one would have to go to the academy and focus fully on it. Not only that but that one she'd have to make right after waking up as she'd use a fair amount of chakra on it, which was slightly annoying.
Chakra in itself was something as an Uzumaki and Jinchuriki she didn't really have to worry about, but that didn't mean she had an infinite amount of it, not yet at least. 'Chakra is converted from Physical and Mental energies after all. Only energizer bunnies like me can use it nonstop.' Yawning slightly while making her breakfast Naruko's Academy Clone began to create her new training plan. Which as a general outline was essentially this;
Clone 1 - Overseeing Academy - Practicing Calligraphy in spare time, Clone 2 - Lightning Jutsu, Clone 3 - Lightning Manipulation, Clone 4 - Wind Jutsu, Clone 5 - Wind Manipulation (Helping out at the Academy), Clone 6 - Rasengan, Clone 7 - Taijutsu, Clone 8 - Kenjutsu, Clone 9 - Bukijutsu, Clone 10 - Fuinjutsu, Clone 11 - Inventive Chakra Control & Adamantium Chains. Her main body was of course doing the typical physical stuff & Shunshin.
Of course, she was a genius still being multiplied by 10 other geniuses. The reality is she was only roughly around Jonin level simply because she was at the very start of her puberty, so her training being delayed by a singular clone didn't matter THAT much.
Thumbing her chin she'd hum. 'In fact, my training will only speed up as I age. A shinobi's fastest growth starts at 15 and ends somewhere in the mid to late 30s. This is why other me's base form grew so much, but his 'Six Paths' form growing less than the base is quite annoying. It's clear that anything that doesn't become your base has that multiplicative increase slowly lessen.' Shaking her head, she grimace slightly noticing she almost burned her eggs. 'Bad Naruko, food time is not thinking time.' Finishing up her breakfast, her clone would head off to the academy, and she'd start chowing down.
A few minutes later she'd say, "Alright before I begin my training, which of the Squads is getting ambush training?"
Captain Bird appeared in her window and flung a scroll that she quickly caught. Scrolling through it she'd hum. "Team Iaito. Three Chunin, one Special Jonin focusing on trap-making. About to be sent on their first-ever border patrol. Ages 15, 17, 16, and 22." Looking through it all she'd grin. "Well Team Iaito. Let's see how you deal with Kiri Tactics..."
-Academy-
Having looked over the schedule forced upon her the previous day, she knew the start of the academy today had an academy-wide hour-long meeting. Of which she would preside over nearly all of it besides the first few minutes. There were only two people who knew she was hiding in the rafters of the gigantic arena on the Academy Grounds - because of course the schoolwide meeting area was an arena. One of them was the Head Instructor of the Final Year who would be introducing her, and the last was the Jonin that she had sensed for years sticking around Gramps biological grandson, who she had never decided to meet.
'Now that I have to overlook this place I should probably meet him later today. His Chakra reserves, control, and 'quality' clearly indicate a shinobi of the quality of an 'Elite' Jonin. Earth, Fire, and then Wind.' Naruko didn't know who he actually was, but it was an impressive shinobi more than likely nearing the same level as Shippuden Asuma, who could take out one of the members of the Akatsuki - like all Elite Jonin, those who border on the madness that was Kage level.
The Head Instructor who was a Special Jonin focused on teaching finally introduced her. "Now students and staff. Today's meeting is an introduction to our new Overseer." She didn't drop from the rafters. She didn't jump down. She simply moved far faster than anyone besides the hiding Elite Jonin could track and appeared in the center of the arena. "Yo!" Before anyone could react, she released her chakra, casually allowing it to shroud her body.
"I'm sure we'll all have a great time, y'know? I know I was your classmate, but guess what - involuntary instant promotion to Chunin the second I turned 10. Apparently having two S-Rank missions while an Academy Student does that, who knew?"
She could see the sweat beading on their faces. Some of the younger ones had begun to turn pale, and even the Academy Instructors were beginning to buckle. The only ones seemingly unaffected by a mere empowered clone releasing her chakra were the Head Instructors, Hinata, Sasuke, Sai, Neji, and to a certain extent the rest of the clan Heirs who had felt similar or even greater things from their parents at times. It was actually interesting to note that Choji was still just munching on chips seemingly completely unaffected. 'As expected. It should be noted that out of all of them, besides Sasuke Choji has by far the highest potential if you don't account for Tensigan. It's just that he was a side character. He also has the strongest Father out of them all, besides again, Sasuke.'
Pulling her chakra back in she'd clap. "Now students, staff. It's time I explained my job. I'm the Overseer. That means I oversee the classes. The curriculum. If I see a punishment that isn't meted out, I correct it. If I see a punishment that shouldn't have happened, I correct it. If a sensei is falsely grading exams - I correct it. If someone's mom is trying to bribe one of the senseis - I shove my fucking fist into her gut and get her arrested for treason. If the sensei accepts? Fully expect to get arrested for - you got that right, treason."
She had a happy-go-lucky grin on her face. "I'm sure three of the Senseis that aren't in attendance haven't done that." The students began to look around trying to figure out what senseis were missing. 'Of course, one of the acts of treason wasn't for bribery. Bye-bye Mizuki~' "Anyways, onto other matters, some curriculum changes -again- will be happening. If you want to graduate early, still at age 10 and above, you get your Sensei's approval and you come to my office. Where is my office? The third floor of the academy, end of the hall. I'm taking the headmaster's office, he has enough of those already.
Next things next. Expect me to personally spar with every single student once a month. That means every day I'll be sparring with a class or two. I will be watching over classes. No neither you nor your sensei will know I'm there. Have a problem with that? Too bad. Unlike this group of softies, I'm saying it. We're going into wartime soon, war will break out any moment. I'm not going to send any of you idiots out to die because one of your sensei was too light-hearted to tell you the truth of something, or went light on your genjutsu resistance training. If any of you sensei have complaints? Get fucked and bring it up to the Academy Board. I.E. myself, the Hokage, and the councillors." 'We have reviewed your complaint, and have found ourselves completely innocent.'
Throughout all of this, a bright sunny grin remained on Naruko, a tiny little ten-year-old who casually threatened and laid down the law to dozens of adult chunin, and hundreds of students. "Now, I'll be taking questions." There was a moment of silence before hand after hand rose.
"Right. I'll ask someone who probably actually has an intelligent question first. Shino." The Aburame Heir and personal friend of hers lowered his hand, coughing slightly as the attention of the entire arena was now on him before asking,
"What will be the requirement for early graduation?"
"Great question! First off, if you graduate early that means you aren't just done with the academy, that means you're nearly ready to be a battle-ready chunin, barring the practical combat experience. That means A - you have to be able to fight under or at least withstand Jonin-level Killing Intent. If you don't even know what Killing Intent is, you aren't ready to graduate, let alone graduate early. B - you have to know Jutsu of an Element, Hiden techniques like the Shadow Possession jutsu fall under Yin and thus count. C - You have to be able to be able to fight while water walking. Now, next question?"
Question after question was asked before finally someone asked, "Why were you selected to be the Overseer?"
"Aah! Finally, someone asked. Now, I'll ask a question in turn. In the advent of a pre-emptive war strike, where would someone attack in Konoha?"
The boy, who she believed was 11, and based on her sensing was probably above average in her class said after a few seconds, "The Academy?"
"Yes! Now, if that was the case and we are in a state of war possibly breaking out any day, why would *I* a weak little freshly graduated Chunin be sent to be the new Overseer, and thus - also the Protector of the Academy."
The academy students didn't seem to know the answer, or the ones who thought they did, didn't realize they could actually answer. "Anyone? Really? What about the instructors?" They all seemed hesitant to answer, although it was clear most of them knew the answer, even if quite a few of them... had particular views about her.
"Right. How about you?" With that, she'd point to the rafters, where no one clearly was. There was silence for a moment, and some murmurs were beginning to rise before she could see in her Mind's Eye that she had briefly turned on the man and his chakra slump.
"Lady Uzumaki that was unnecessary you could have explained it yourself..." With that said, he leaped down into the middle of the arena. Clad in a Jonin Flack Jacket, a bandana-style headband, and sunglasses a mid-20s man appeared in the arena. 'Aah. So it IS Ebisu. Makes sense he's an actual Elite Shinobi here instead of, well a joke.' "What Lady Uzumaki was giving permission to people to say if they knew was that there was a reason she was sent to be the overseer and to guard the academy. You see Lady Uzumaki is the Kyuubi Jinchuriki. Yes, that Kyuubi. Will that be sufficient Lady Uzumaki?"
Naruko nodded. 'My, my. It seems like just in Canon, Ebisu will treat me with respect once he sees my talent - or in actuality not wasting my talent. The Teacher of Elites indeed...'
"Yes, what Ebisu said. Now, those of you who understand what sealing is, and understand that I'm not the Kyuubi might be wondering why I just had Ebisu flagrantly say that while not worrying about spies. Simple. Every other village including Sand has already tried to send assassins or saboteurs after me these last two years. They, of course, failed fucking horrifically. So much so I'd say most of them got the off-screen treatment, not that any of you know what that means." In response the Senseis and some of the more aware students shifted, understanding the unspoken hint about Suna not necessarily being an ally.
Clapping her hands. "Now, you'll have a thirty-minute break before your regularly scheduled classes will continue. Within the week schedules will be adjusted, and I'll take into note those who took the time to plan out their future career and send in the proper forms. Because you're training to be shinobi. If you didn't do that, you've stated to me you want to be a generalist, and thus are signing up for the most courses." That broke through the mix of awe, fear, horror, and suspicion, and most people went to a distinctly different set of fear. No one liked extra classes. "Now, meeting adjourned! That means you can leave." She moved at maximum speed next to Ebisu.
"Sorry about that, but I needed any spies to realize there was also a Jonin, even though they don't realize you're an Elite one. It'll be safer that way when Gramps isn't here handing out D-Ranks to freshies." He nodded, adjusting his glasses.
"I understand Lady Uzumaki. Will you be requesting any adjustments to Konohomaru-kun's personal tutoring? I know Lord Hokage trusts your advice when it comes to that." She hummed narrowing her eyes.
"He's infinitely more advanced than I expected." 'If I'm being generous, Ebisu in canon didn't give him wartime training. If I'm not being generous he was incompetent.' She thought for a moment before pulling out a scroll and writing something down. "Tell me if he ever finishes this, I see something in the brat." Taking the offered scroll and reading it, an eyebrow would raise over Ebisu's sunglasses.
"Is this what I think it is Lady Uzumaki?" Naruko nodded.
"The Yondaime was indeed a genius. Thank you for this, I'll add it to his training schedule." A serious look set on her face,
"If he wants to graduate early if the war is going on at that time, he'll need to be at the upper bounds of a true Chunin, you understand what I mean?" Ebisu sighed.
"I know. He'll die the second he enters a battlefield if he isn't. I suspect it's the same of most of the clan heirs and 'geniuses'?" She nodded.
"Of course. Who's to say what is actually Jonin-level Killing Intent after all? Or how intense the battle on Water has to be?" Was it morally wrong to let the less talented Shinobi graduate earlier than the 'important' people? Yes. Would it possibly end the world if Sasuke died early, or if someone that could potentially awaken the Tensigan like Hinata or Neji died early? Also yes. Would it potentially end the world if a random Genin who might be a Jonin one day died early? Probably not. 'The Greater Good indeed... How sickening.' Shaking her head, she'd Shunshin away.
-Main Body-
Waiting in the trees, because seriously people struggle to remember to look up, Naruko would patiently wait as Team Iaito went about their last training session before their 2-month tour of border patrol. Watching and waiting, she'd signal with her left hand for her clones to attack.
One of them cast the ever-vaunted 'Hidden in the Mist Technique' before popping from the chakra strain, that clone was made specifically weak after all. 'Let's see if they notice no one is maintaining it, and only the remaining chakra is making it keep shape.' Kunai, shuriken, and other assortment of weaponry came flying in.
"Ambush!" The team instantly went into action deflecting the mass of weaponry with their own kunai or swords from seeing the shadows and brief flickers through the mist. The Special Jonins eyes darted around, before lashing out noticing a shadow, managing to cleave through a clone who turned into a puddle of water. Noticing something his eyes would continue to twitch about before, "Zamba, wind style too clear it away! It's not being maintained!"
"Yes, Captain!" Flashing through handseals, a clone came in high while another came in low trying to stop it, only for his other two fellow chunin teammates to block and clash with them. 'Good.' The wind-style jutsu went off. "Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!" Inhaling before exhaling a gigantic gust of wind would explode out of Zamba's mouth, blowing away the mist, and revealing three completely non-descript water clones still standing, with Iaito having managed to take out two more.
As the mist was dispersed, all the water clones fell into puddles. A moment later an unrecognizable voice echoed around the training ground. "Congratulations Team Iaito, you are officially cleared for your mission with impressive results. Before you go on your long-term mission be expected for an ANBU to appear in front of you."
With that said Naruko would leave the field, her mission done for the day. 'Mhm, this team was certainly impressive for their ranking. Each one deserves a Jutsu scroll. That Zamba just needs a new short-range B-Rank wind style and once he masters it he could be classified as a Special Jonin.' Writing it down in her report while on the way to her own training field, she'd close up the scroll, wrap it up, and flick it into the air behind her for one of her ANBU Guards to grab. "Give that to Gramps."
With that, she'd continue onwards to another day of training.
