Chapter 173: Nights Out
After leaving the room, Noah dialled Lionel's number and filled him in on everything.
"Hurry up, I need you guys at the location as soon as possible, bring a couple of people with you,"
"Alright, boss."
Twenty minutes later...
Knock
Opening the door, Noah looked and saw Lionel with around six other guys.
"Come in, they are inside," Noah said, as he opened the door wider for them.
"Alright, I'm gonna go. Lionel, you choose what you want to do with them alongside Leo. Also, don't stay in this place for too long and let the girl go when you leave," He said, as he pointed at Natasha who was trembling.
"Alright, boss. We will handle it from here," Lionel said, as he glared at Tyrell who was knocked out cold with blood all over his face.
Without another word, Noah walked out of the house, leaving Lionel and his men to handle the situation.
'I wonder who this ghost is, It seems like I need to pay that customer soon,' Noah thought, but decided to do it another day as he still hadn't eaten anything.
Growl
"Ring-Ring"
"Hello, Noah?" Caroline responded, on the other side of the phone.
"Hi mum, are you home?"
"Yes honey, why? is something wrong?" She asked, feeling worried that something happened to him.
"No, there is nothing wrong. I was in the area, and I wanted to ask if there is food at home. I'm feeling quite hungry, so I just wanted to check if I should bring some good from outside or not."
"I see, I made stuffed chicken, with some side dishes like hummus."
"Alright then, I will be there soon. See you,"
"See you, honey, stay safe."
Noah hung up the phone and drove to his parent's house.
**
Arriving in the area, he parked in a nearby street and walked to his house.
Entering the house, Noah greeted his parents who were sitting in the living room.
"Good afternoon mum, good afternoon dad."
He then shut the door and proceeded to give them both a hug.
Noah's eyes then landed on the hot dishes that were on the small table.
'She heated them up for me,'
He thought, as he gave his mom a warm smile which he returned back.
"Thanks, Mum," He said.
"You are welcome honey, I figured that I should heat them for you so by the time you are here you can just eat because you are hungry,"
Noah nodded and sat on the couch.
Savouring the flavours of his mother's cooking, his face was blissful. The stuffed chicken was tender, and perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of spices.
The side dishes complemented the main course—a refreshing cucumber salad, creamy hummus, Turkish bread and a fragrant vegetable stew.
"Thanks, Mom," Noah said sincerely, giving her a warm smile. "This is amazing, as always." Discover stories with empire
His mother, Caroline, beamed, the pride in her cooking evident in her smile. "You're welcome, honey. Eat well."
David, sitting across from them with a steaming cup of tea, chuckled. "When she heard that you were hungry, she immediately got up and started heating up the food for you. Heck, she was about to make some new dishes."
Caroline playfully smacked his arm. "David! Stop embarrassing me in front of our son."
Noah laughed softly, the warmth of his parents engulfing him.
"Emily's asleep, isn't she?" Noah asked, glancing toward the hallway leading to her room.
David nodded, taking a sip of his tea. "Out like a light. This is her bedtime anyway."
Noah nodded, taking another bite of the stuffed chicken. The conversation shifted as he ate, flowing naturally from light family topics to business matters.
"Son, the teahouse is bringing in too much money," David said, his expression growing serious. "I'm starting to get worried about taxes and other legal stuff. It's getting a bit overwhelming for me."
Noah wiped his mouth with a napkin and set his fork down. "Don't worry about that, Dad," he reassured him. "I'll get someone to handle all of that for us. I'll hire a professional accountant who can manage the taxes and make sure everything is on board."
David exhaled, visibly relieved. "Good. I was going to suggest that, but I wasn't sure how to go about it."
"Also," Noah continued, leaning back slightly, "we need to get you a car soon. Something that you can use to deposit the money into the bank. I don't want you carrying cash around like that anymore. It's too risky."
Caroline chimed in, concern evident in her tone. "He's right, David. It's not safe, especially with how much the teahouse is making."
David nodded, his hand rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Alright. We'll get one soon. But we'll need a business account for the teahouse, right?"
"Yes," Noah replied. "That's another thing we need to sort out. Once we have the account set up, you won't have to worry about handling cash all the time."
"Sounds like a solid plan," David said, his tone firm. "Let's do it."
As the conversation lightened, Noah glanced around the familiar living room. The warm lighting and cosy furniture brought back memories of his childhood.
"Dad," Noah said after a moment, "I heard about an amazing apartment from one of my friends. It's free right now, and it's in a great location. If you want, we can check it out soon."
David raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "An apartment? Are you thinking about moving us out of here?"
Noah shrugged lightly. "Not necessarily. But it's always good to have options, right? This house has served us well, but it might be time to upgrade. Plus, the new place is closer to the teahouse and mum's work."
Caroline exchanged a glance with David before nodding. "That doesn't sound like a bad idea. But we'd have to see it first, honey."
"Of course," Noah said, finishing the last bite of his meal. "I'll arrange a time for us soon. We can all go take a look."
After discussing their plans for the future, he decided to stay the night.
"It's late, and I might as well spend some time here," Noah told them with a light smile. "It's been a while."
Caroline's face lit up with joy. "Oh, honey, that's wonderful! You should stay more often."
David nodded, his approval clear. "It's good to have you here. Emily will be jumping when she finds out."
After exchanging good nights with his parents, Noah made his way to his old room.
The familiar door creaked slightly as he pushed it open, revealing the space that held so many memories. It was immaculately clean.
'She's still taking care of it, huh?' he thought, his lips curving into a soft smile as he ran his fingers along the neatly arranged bookshelf.
His bed was made perfectly, and the few childhood trinkets he had left behind were still displayed on the shelves.
Noah grabbed a change of clothes from the closet and headed to the shower. The warm water washed away everything, leaving his body relaxed.
Returning to his room, he pulled back the sheets and settled into bed.
**
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the curtains, landing on Noah's face.
He groaned, the brightness pulling him from his sleep. Raising an arm, he shielded his eyes from the rays and rolled to his side.
"Argh," he muttered, his voice thick with sleep.
For a few moments, he lay there, debating whether to return to the comfort of his dreams or wake up with a resigned sigh, he tossed the blanket aside.
After a minute of stretching in bed, he sat up and swung his legs to the floor, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
'Time to get up,' he thought, his mind already running through his tasks.
He headed to the bathroom to freshen up, splashing cold water on his face to jolt himself fully awake his reflection in the mirror stared back.
Downstairs, the smell of tea and breakfast wafted through the air.
"Good morning, honey!" Caroline chirped, glancing over her shoulder as she set the table.
"Morning Mom, Morning Dad," Noah said.
Just as he stepped further into the kitchen, a blur rushed toward him.
"Noah!" Emily's excited voice rang out as she flung herself at him, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
Noah chuckled, momentarily caught off guard by her enthusiasm. "Good morning to you too, Em," he said, ruffling her hair affectionately.
Emily leaned back, her face lit with a wide grin. "You stayed over! I was so surprised when Mom told me. Why didn't you tell me you were coming? We could've played something!"
"Guess I wanted to surprise you," Noah said with a soft smile. "Plus, you were already asleep when I got here."
She pouted, crossing her arms. "You could've woken me up!"
Caroline, still busy at the stove, laughed. "And have you act grumpy all morning? I think not."
David lowered his newspaper, his expression amused. "Let your brother have his breakfast first, Emily. You've got the whole day to pester him."
Emily huffed, reluctantly letting go of Noah. "Fine. But after breakfast, you're mine," she said, her voice filled with playful determination as she skipped back to her chair.
