Chapter 112: Chapter 111 - Meeting with Steve Vujin 01.
[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
Tobias Snape woke up the next day with a pounding hangover. Although he had no idea what time it was, he didn't have to work today, so he had decided to drink his entire stock of alcohol.
He stumbled over himself towards the door, feeling the intense pain in his head, and then headed towards the staircase in front of another room. It had been months, but he still vividly remembered being thrown down those stairs by his own son, rolling down to the lower floor and feeling several parts of his body breaking in the process.
Snape had never acted against him, let alone using magic, so it was the first time Tobias felt that his son had attacked him with some kind of spell, even though he clearly remembered Snape using his fist to strike him, which was very strange. He had to call an ambulance and kept shouting for wizards to come, yet no one appeared, no matter what he did to report Snape for using magic.
And so, he was hospitalized and later returned home, his life turning into a real nightmare as he had to manage everything on his own. He had no friends or family to support him, and even while bandaged with various wraps to try to heal his wounds, he still had to endure for months.
Tobias still felt the pain in his body, needing to be very careful not to strain any position, and he had heard from the doctors that it would remain that way forever.
The feeling of anger and frustration consumed him at that moment. He felt a rage towards Eileen and his son that he had never experienced before… How he longed to make Snape pay for everything he had done to him. He would gladly beat Eileen too, but she was already dead—at least one thing he could take comfort in.
Setting aside these dark thoughts, he began descending the stairs with some difficulty. When he reached the last step, his body simply froze.
In front of him was someone he didn't expect to see on this day. Although it was the time of year when Hogwarts was ending, and just like every other year, this was the time when Snape returned home, Tobias still hadn't expected to find him there. Snape was sitting in front of him, holding a newspaper and calmly sipping coffee, lifting his eyes from the paper to Tobias at that moment.
"I thought you wouldn't show up after drinking so much last night," Snape said calmly.
The newspaper he was reading had moving images of a Muggle bus in flames surrounded by Aurors, with a headline saying it had been attacked by dark wizards. The report noted that no one knew exactly what had happened, only that four bodies were left behind, turned to ashes, while the driver remembered nothing, with no memory of the event. There was no way to say what had occurred, as all evidence had been cremated when the vehicle caught fire, but through magic, they discovered that someone very powerful had slaughtered the four dark wizards in under three seconds.
But this report wasn't important now as Snape stared at his father. 'I hope this is the last time I ever see him,' he couldn't help but think with disdain.
"What are you doing here?" Tobias exclaimed immediately.
"Well, I need you to sign something for me," Snape replied coldly. "Basically, you will officially be severing ties with me. I don't want to keep resorting to measures to prove that I'm independent and have no magical guardian. I could do everything in my own name without so much bureaucracy," he explained.
Snape was tired of having to present documents and evidence, especially now that he intended to start his own business. He needed to do everything in his own name without any ties to Tobias or risking his father trying to gain something from his name.
"You think, after what you did to me, monster, that I would want to sever ties with you? Why should I obey?" Tobias spat with contempt, the anger boiling within him, and his pride preventing him from doing something that would let Snape go his own way.
"Well, because I'll beat you up again," Snape replied, raising an eyebrow. "Do you want to end up in the hospital again?"
"I swear you'll pay for all of this, you monster. You're worse than that damn mother of yours!" Tobias barely finished his sentence before Severus grabbed the coffee cup and threw it directly at his face, shattering it with the still-hot liquid.
"AHHHH!!!" With a scream of pain, Tobias fell backward, rolling to the bottom of the stairs.
"Well, since you want to handle this the hard way, then let's do this," Snape said, setting the newspaper aside and approaching his father. He felt no pity; that wretched man had killed his mother, whether by the Hate Potion or not, and Snape would deal with Tobias accordingly.
"You bastard!" Tobias shouted, trying to gather himself.
"I see your leg hasn't healed yet," Snape said coldly, standing over Tobias. "You know, if I broke it now, you might end up in a wheelchair," he added, grabbing his father's leg by the pants.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Tobias panicked, his fear overcoming his anger at the thought of never walking again.
"Obviously, I'm going to break your leg so that you'll never walk again," Snape replied. "Every time I hear you talk about Eileen again, I'll beat you up. Understand that. But if you don't obey me now, this will never end, so you'd better think twice before refusing my simple request. I just need one signature."
"Alright, alright, I'll sign!" the man exclaimed, in the end not wanting to go back to the hospital.
"Great, the paper and the quill are over there on the table. It's a Blood Quill to bind the contract, so you'll feel some pain… Sign it, and I'll collect them later. Meanwhile, I'll finish organizing my things. After all, I'll never come back to this place again," he said, leaving his father on the floor and going up the stairs.
Snape only grabbed a few things he had left in his room. Tobias seemed to have thrown away many of his belongings after their last encounter. Not that Snape needed many things; in the end, he just took the photo of his mother with him when he was an 8-year-old child.
"AHHH!!" He heard his father's scream coming from downstairs, and he knew he had signed the letter. Finally, he could act independently now.
When he returned to the kitchen, his father was no longer there, as he saw the man had opened the door. Snape approached the letter with his signature and nodded, before taking out his wand and starting to fix everything he had broken up until then. After that, he simply vanished.
It didn't take long for Lily to wake up to the sound of unusual shouting from the street. She got out of bed and looked out the window, surprised to see Tobias, Snape's father, dragging a policeman towards his house.
"Hurry, the monster is in there! Take him away! You must call the National Guard! You can't let that thing loose!" he began to exclaim like a madman, while the officer thought he was crazy but proceeded towards the house.
"Prepare your weapon, we're going in," Tobias said and entered.
Lily felt a bit worried about the situation, quickly going downstairs to see her parents outside with her sister.
"Your friend is a monster, isn't he, Lily? I always knew it!" her sister Petunia mocked.
"Stop picking on your sister, Petunia," Lily's mother exclaimed at her, clearly not pleased with seeing her mother defending Lily.
"No, he's not!" Lily immediately defended him. "I need to see him!" she said urgently. "There's some misunderstanding here, Snape isn't a monster!"
"Wait here! We can't do anything about this," her father stopped her immediately, touching her shoulder.
"But…" Lily seemed very nervous as more and more neighbors began to gather to witness the commotion with the policeman and a slightly injured Tobias inside.
At that moment, the policeman came out, shaking his head towards the street as he approached all the residents.
"This guy is nuts! The place is packed with alcohol, and he's not making any sense," the policeman said, while everyone exchanged glances.
In the end, Tobias had made a false report and ended up at the police station to give a statement, as there was no evidence that the "monster" had hurt him; it seemed he had simply fallen down the stairs after drinking too much.
Meanwhile, Snape was in the heart of Magical London, where the Ministry of Magic itself stood—a grand building among many other important ones.
He walked through those streets, where wizards were everywhere as well. It wasn't as crowded as Diagon Alley, but here, everyone wore formal attire and looked well-presented, flaunting their status. This place was like a magical Wall Street of England, with various companies, book publishers, and important government offices.
Regardless, Snape pressed on, as he had someone to meet that day. It didn't take long for him to enter one of the buildings, go up a floor, and knock on a plain door.
At that moment, the door opened, revealing a middle-aged man. It was Steve Vujin, the most prominent investigator in England, with whom Snape had spent a significant amount of money. He seemed enthusiastic as he wore a suit, a monocle on one eye, along with a signature top hat, all in a deep burgundy color.
"So, it's you, the legendary Severus Snape! Come on in!" Steve Vujin said with a smile upon seeing him, inviting him inside. Snape found himself in a vast hall, as the place used space magic to enlarge the interior of the house.
The place was filled with books, and there were at least 40 paintings scattered around, all appearing to be investigations, connecting points with photos, notes, and pieces of newspaper clippings.
"It's an honor to have the most wanted man in England in my humble abode," he said, approaching Snape again. "But who could have imagined that this would be a fifth-year Hogwarts student, and now already in your sixth year? How old are you, 16?" he asked.
"Almost 17," Snape replied.
"But that's fantastic! In all my years in this field, I've never encountered anything like you. You're certainly one of a kind!" he continued to flatter, while Snape avoided lifting his gaze at the praise.
"Anyway, you didn't give me complete information about Transylvania, and I'm here for that…" Snape said, as the man nodded.
"Of course, come with me. Let's start discussing your dangerous journey with that family. After all, we'll need a lot of coffee for this and a good conversation," Steve said, as Snape nodded, following him.
