One Piece: Ultimate Villain

Chapter 40: 40. Zephyr

One week later.

On the bow of the ship shaped like a dog's head, Marsh and Smoker stood side by side.

They gazed ahead, their hearts racing as they faced the colossal base exuding a solemn and majestic aura, stretching outward in all directions.

Thousands of warships were neatly docked in the harbor.

The deep, resonant sound of bells rang out at intervals, more overwhelming than the golden bell Marsh had heard in simulations!

Even Garp's personal warship, still over a thousand meters away from the base, had to slow its speed.

Marsh was no stranger to this place.

Before coming to this world, this base had appeared countless times in images.

But now, standing before it, Marsh couldn't help but hold his breath.

The central hub of the entire Navy, it formed a triangle with the Judicial Island and Impel Down Prison, representing the heart of global military power.

At first glance, the most striking feature was the massive naval building towering at the peak.

The black Navy characters on the walls were enough to make any ill-intentioned person uneasy.

Dark cannon barrels glinted coldly in the sunlight.

The range they covered was as vast as the reach of justice itself!

This place was the absolute holy land for all Navy personnel, the very center of naval power.

There were no smiles here, only solemnity!

Marine Headquarters, Marineford!

The warship slowly docked, and a team of Navy personnel immediately stepped forward, their synchronized footsteps echoing in the air.

The connection bridge from the port was quickly set up by the soldiers.

Garp took a large stride and was the first to disembark.

"Vice Admiral Garp, welcome back."

At the port, a man with a mohawk hairstyle and dark purple hair tied up into a bun greeted him. His thick mustache was also dark purple.

Under his Navy cloak, he wore a suit with light purple stripes, a dark blue shirt underneath, and a white tie. A katana hung at his waist. He saluted Garp.

Marsh took a quick glance at him and couldn't help but smile.

Another familiar face, Vice Admiral Momonga.

Oh, now he was a Rear Admiral.

"Yo, Momonga."

Garp waved casually, "All the Black Vulture Pirates are on the ship behind. You can have your men throw them into the Navy court."

"Understood!" Momonga nodded, then instructed his subordinates to head toward the warship.

"By the way, you can leave this small matter to your subordinates. But I need to ask you for a favor." Garp suddenly slapped his head.

"Yes, go ahead." Momonga immediately stopped.

"You take this kid." Garp pointed to Marsh, "And go find your teacher, Zephyr. Gion has something for him."

Momonga looked at the young man Garp pointed to. The young man was grinning widely and waved his hand at him.

A face he hadn't seen before, probably a new Navy recruit visiting Marineford for the first time.

He took a long breath, noticing the bamboo... wait, no, it was a sword at his waist!

It must be the Marsh that Garp had strongly recommended, the one who had been pried from Gion's men.

Momonga nodded, signaling that he understood, and gave the order to his subordinates.

Then, he led Marsh toward the towering building at the center of Marineford.

Before they parted ways, Garp patted Marsh on the shoulder. "Kid, remember what I told you! Don't disappoint me!"

...

On either side of the stone-paved road, Navy officers stood tall, their stern faces and muscular figures imposing, capes billowing in the wind.

As the heart and brain of the Navy, this small base was brimming with strong individuals at every turn.

As they walked, Marsh saw over twenty officers of at least the rank of Rear Admiral.

"Are you Lieutenant Marsh?" Momonga suddenly asked.

"Yes. Momonga-san."

Marsh quickly nodded.

"Zephyr-sensei is resting in his office. But... his condition isn't very good lately." Momonga continued.

"Not in good condition?" Marsh's brow furrowed.

In an instant, he understood. This wasn't the simulated world anymore. In the real world, Zephyr's family and disciples had been brutally attacked by pirates.

Zephyr himself was deeply disheartened.

How could his condition be any better?

"The Lieutenant Commander of 39th Branch, Gion, is in the same batch as me. She was the most favored by Zephyr-sensei in our class. I hope what she sent with you can bring some warmth to Zephyr-sensei." Momonga said softly.

Marsh silently nodded.

After a short while, the two of them arrived in front of a massive office.

The plaque outside read, Admiral Zephyr in bold, powerful characters.

"Sensei, are you there?"

Momonga knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A hoarse, aged voice came from inside.

Momonga gave Marsh a nod, then pushed open the door to the office.
